Puritopians: The Message Pitch Is Chin Music

When GOP SuperPACs are using the Puritopians’ message against us…

For all the readers out there who like to complain that Barack Obama is a tool of the wealthy, congratulations!  The American Future Fund is spending $4 million in SuperPAC ads in nine swing states this month to push that exact message to help the Republicans.

The AFF offensive highlights Obama’s claim – in a2009 interview – that he didn’t “run for office to be helping out a bunch of fat cat bankers.” The conservative group points out in its new ad that the Obama administration has included a lineup of veterans of the financial services industry, including White House chiefs of staff Rahm Emanuel, Bill Daley and Jack Lew.

“His White House is full of Wall Street executives,” the spot says. “Now, Obama’s flush with cash, returning to Wall Street for more glitzy fundraisers … Obama won’t admit to supporting Wall Street, but Wall Street sure supports President Obama.”

The AFF television ads will run on cable in Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Michigan, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio and Virginia. That’s real money going onto the airwaves in real states from a group that spent heavily in the 2010 midterms, but which has yet to fully ramp up for the 2012 general election.

Not-Colbert SuperPAC Releases Ad Attacking Stephen Colbert, featuring Samuel L. Jackson

Fresh off the heels of the release of the anti-Romney ad accusing Mitt Romney of being a serial killer, “The Definitely Not Coordinating With Stephen Colbert” SuperPAC released an attack ad today which attacks… Stephen Colbert.

It’s so meta and awesome, I can barely stand it.

Black Participation in the Political Process

A Black Super PAC? I can dig it.

 This is outstanding news:

President Barack Obama has a new, moneyed supporter in this new year — a super PAC dedicated to mobilizing black voters in key swing states.

Calling itself 1911 United, the super PAC is aiming to raise $1.5 million during the election cycle and train its efforts on Colorado, Florida, Indiana, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia, committee treasurer Sinclair Skinner told POLITICO.

“He needs a boost,” Skinner said of Obama. “And we want to use all the means possible to support him, including a super PAC. Black political participation is still evolving, and what we hope to do is get as many voters active in the process as early as possible.”

The committee is backed by two large, historically black fraternities, Kappa Alpha Psi and Omega Psi Phi, both of which celebrated their centennials last year.

The 1911 United super PAC will likely work to “organize and deploy” black voters — particularly potential first-time voters — in support of Obama, said Skinner, a long-time Washington, D.C.-based political organizer who’s a mechanical engineer by trade. He notes that the group intends to make significant use of phone banking and social media to achieve this goal.

Broadcast media messages are a possibility, but “we’re really going to focus on working with the people directly,” he said.

“Black political participation is still evolving…” Indeed. That applies to black political participation in social media, as well. Not to dredge up old quarrels (but pardon me while I do), remember when I wrote this about black political participation? Continue reading

Stephen Colbert Super PAC Receiving Donations from the Darnedest People

Suq Madiq

I love it when Colbert breaks down like this:

It’s almost as good as his and Jon Stewart’s break-down over the Prince Charles scandal.

I’m still waiting for Stephen to give Adam Green the old “how’s your father” for Green’s cybersquatting skullduggery.  Tick Tock.

Per the yoozsh, you’re welcome.

Adam Green and Progressive Change Campaign Committee (PCCC) Rip Off Stephen Colbert

High Plains Grifters

Adam Green is desperate for your money. So desperate that he is willing to lie, cheat, and steal to get it.

You see, a couple weeks ago, Adam Green (PCCC’s Treasurer and Grifter-in-Chief) registered the domain name “ColberSuperPAC” in an attempt to bleed donations and membership from Colbert’s Super PAC, Americans for a Better Tomorrow, Tomorrow (which can be found at <www.ColbertSuperPac.com>):

Progressive Change Campaign Committee Treasurer Adam Green purchased the URL ColberSuperPAC.com, omitting the t in Stephen Colbert’s name, and then redirected that URL to his own PAC web site in an apparent attempt to steal critical membership and donations away from Colbert’s PAC, Americans for a Better Tomorrow, Tomorrow. Colbert announced Friday night on his show, The Colbert Report, more than 100,000 previous ABTT members need to sign up a second time because the organization is now a super-PAC.
