South Carolina: You Can’t Be a Republican if You’ve Had Premarital Sex

SCOFF.

Here’s a nugget of ridiculous for you.

The Laurens County Republican Party in South Carolina is chastening it up, requiring aspiring party members to pledge that they’ve never had premarital sex, and that they will never look at porn again.

No, seriously:

The Obama Justice Department Proves That Elections Matter!

Vote As If Your Life Depends On It – Because It Does!

Whether you are conservative or liberal, the actions of many states to keep people from voting should send a chill down your spine.

In a country where voter participation is abysmal, we should all be working to get more people involved in the political process – not less. In a move that should remind everyone on the left how important elections are, the Obama Justice department has rejected South Carolina’s new law requiring a photo ID at the polls.

We don’t have to look back very far to see what a Republican Justice department would do.

This is also, by the way, another one of those “parties matter” moments, of which there have been many lately. Remember, in 2005, career staffers in the Justice Department’s Voting Section found that Georgia’s voter-ID law was discriminatory and should be rejected — only to see Bush/Cheney officials override their own experts’ judgment and approve the proposal.

There has been a lot of progress in voting rights since the Voting Rights Act of 1965, but in recent years, the Republican Party, which is now dominated by the Tea Party wing, is trying to roll back that progress and disenfranchise voters who just happen to be in predominantly minority populations. And we all know it is because minorities understand clearly that the Democratic Party represents all people, regardless of skin color or ethnic background and these people tend to vote in their own self interests – for Democrats.

For Republicans, it’s a game of percentages. If they can lower the turnout of minorities and make it harder for groups who support Democratic candidates to have their votes counted, they can continue their quest to….well, it seems like their only goal is to put more money in the pockets of the rich. They really haven’t tried to hide that fact in the last few years. It’s all about protecting the rich and consequently, hurting the poor. And I don’t think I’m being hyperbolic.

Elections matter, vote Democratic.

Lindsey Graham (R-Smelling Salts): It's hard out there for a white southerner

::cue tiny violins::

The story that Alex Haley wouldn’t want you to know about:

GOP presidential candidate Gov. Rick Perry (TX) has faced severe backlash this week as the result of stories that he had opposed a campaign to remove the Confederate battle flag from statehouses across the South and that he had hosted family and friends at a West Texas hunting camp that once read “Niggerhead” on its entrance gate. Yesterday on Mike Gallagher’s radio show, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) defended Perry. “Rick Perry is not a racist,” Graham said, saying the Texas governor is the victim of an “intimidation” campaign. “You know if you’re a southern white guy, it is part of your life,” Graham complained. South Carolina Tea Party Chair: Hey y'all, wouldn't it be *hilarious* if the Obamas were killed? Y'all?

<crickets>

So I’m trolling my homeboy Allan’s Twitter feed and I come across this little gem:

The chairwoman of the Sumter Tea Party is taking some heat after posting a joke on Facebook about killing the president and first lady.

Shery Lanford Smith posted the joke on her public profile Thursday afternoon, according to a screen-capture taken by the Sumter Item’s Nick McCormac. Smith removed the post after being asked about it.

In the joke, the Obamas’ helicopter pilot says to his co-pilot, “I could throw both of them out of the window and make 256 million people very happy!” Smith also posted, “If you’re one of [the] 256 million, pass it on,” implying she herself would be happy to see the Obamas killed.

The joke has been circulating for years in various forms which have included the names of multiple political figures. “It’s just a joke,” Smith told the Item when contacted about her post. “I had no idea it would be an issue.”

Smith was elected chairwoman of the Sumter Tea Party in February 2011, according to the organization’s now-defunct website.

LOLOLOLOL. It’s so funny! Why aren’t you laughing? You get it? Because the pilots of Air Force Helicopter (or whatever it’s called, I’m not a Secret Service expert, you know) would throw the Obamas off the plane, likely sans parachutes, thus causing them to be not alive anymore!

South Carolina: You Yell Shit at the President, We Engrave it on an Assault Rifle (For a Limited Time Only!)

Seriously, South Carolina?  I mean, SERIOUSLY!?

Y’all remember President Obama’s BFF 4 LYFE Joe Wilson (R-SC), right?  Of course you do.  Wilson made headlines last year after he yelled “You lie!” in the middle of Obama’s nationally televised speech about healthcare reform, right after Obama stated that his plan for health care reform did not include covering undocumented immigrants.

I wrote about how appalling it was that Wilson — a member of Congress — would dare heckle Obama during a joint session of Congress.  If I recall correctly, my exact words were “I know there’s a black President and all but ding dang, y’all.  That doesn’t mean motherfuckers should be acting like they’re on location at Showtime at the Apollo.” 1

Wilson later apologized (likely after Rahm Emanuel held him by his ankles over a balcony Suge Knight-style).  Actually, in fairness to Wilson, it was one of the more “sincere” apologies to be offered by someone who done fucked up.  There was no “I’m sorry if my words offended some people,” or “I regret that people have taken my words out of context,” or — my personal favorite — “Mistakes were made.”  Wilson flat-out said that his remarks were inappropriate and he apologized to the President for his incivility.

So, lesson learned right?  I mean, most folks agree that one doesn’t speak to the President in such a manner, right?

Well, not exactly.  Wilson has since been lauded as King of Tea Party Mountain, and one company has decided that not only should Joe Wilson’s outburst to be commended, it should be commemorated.

How?

Well, by engraving the phrase “You lie!” on a gun, but of course.  And not just any gun — a fucking assault rifle:

A South Carolina gun and accessories company is selling semi-automatic rifle components inscribed with “You lie” – a tribute to the infamous words of 2nd District Republican Congressman Joe Wilson when he shouted at President Barack Obama during a congressional speech about national health care reform in the fall of 2009.

“Palmetto State Armory would like to honor our esteemed congressman Joe Wilson with the release of our new ‘You Lie’ AR-15 lower receiver,” reads a portion of the company’s website.

The product “is neither endorsed nor affiliated with Joe Wilson or his campaign,” according to a line of text at the bottom of the page. A picture of Wilson holding a rifle and standing in the company’s gun shop appears on the same page. The company offers the components, marked “MULTI to accommodate most builds,” for $99.95 apiece.

At this point, I don’t even know what to say.  “This is fuckery of the highest order.” ??

“What the fuck are they thinking?” ??

“I’ve fallen and I can’t get up.” ??

I don’t know, y’all.  I just don’t know.

This country has gone full retard.

1 Of course I recall correctly.  I just looked it up.  ::thumps head:: I’m a smart one.

Jim DeMint: Gays and Unmarried Female Fornicators Should Not Be Permitted to be Teachers

Homos and Hos Should Stay Home!

Senator Jim DeMint, the asshat who, last week, threatened to shut down the government just because he could has new crazy thoughts that he decided to shoot out of his mouthhole instead of keeping said mouthhole shut:

Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) says that even though “no one” came to his defense in 2004 after he said that gay people and unwed mothers should be banned from teaching, “everyone” quietly told him that he shouldn’t back down from his position.

He also implied that not banning gay people and women who have sex before marriage from teaching would be an attack on Christians, and defended his position on banning gay teachers because he holds the same position on women who have sex outside of marriage.

The Spartanberg Herald-Journal described the comments this way:DeMint said if someone is openly homosexual, they shouldn’t be teaching in the classroom and he holds the same position on an unmarried woman who’s sleeping with her boyfriend — she shouldn’t be in the classroom.” DeMint did not apparently state his position on whether sexually active unmarried male teachers should be similarly removed from classrooms.

His spokesman told TPMMuckraker that whether gay people should be banned from the classroom isn’t an issue on DeMint’s agenda in the Senate.

“Senator DeMint believes that hiring decisions at local schools are a local school board issue, not a federal issue,” Wesley M. Denton said. “He was making a point about how the media attacks people for holding a moral opinion.”

If by “holding a moral opinion” you mean “being a dipshit,” then yes.

What is this, the 18th century?  Now unmarried sexually active women are immoral?

Well, I knew I was immoral, but I wasn’t quite sure why.  I thought it might have been that dude I killed and stashed in my trunk.  Thankfully, now I know that it’s all the out-of-wedlock seximification.

Where’s my chastity belt?

Apparently, There’s a Worthless Nigger in the White House.

I’m going to go throw up.

Last week I wrote about a slave party1 that Glenn McConnell and a bunch of Southern Republicans hosted (and that a bunch of Republican politicians attended).  The party was called “A Southern Experience.”

Here is a photo:

Just some down home fun.

The brochure for the party advertised a Live Auction.  When I saw the picture and saw that there was a Live Auction, I jumped to a conclusion, and I was called “a fucking idiot” for doing so:

I’m all for making fun of conservatives, but when us liberals accuse them of things they didn’t do, it makes us look stupid. It also makes this poster specifically look incredibly racist in stating that some conservatives just up and dressed up black people like dolls, as if they had no say in the matter.

There was an auction at the event you link to, but it was, you know, an auction. For items, not a “mock auction of slaves.” Seriously, how fucking stupid are this poster and the one at Angry Black Chronicles to not understand that a LIVE AUCTION is not an auction of live people, but an auction where people bid out loud as opposed to a SILENT AUCTION (which, if they called a dead auction, I’m sure you would think that was an auction for organs or zombies or something, fucking idiots).

There were African Americans at the event, but they were there to promote Gullah culture (something I had no idea about until I read about this picture, so they have certainly been more than successful).

I responded as follows:

Oh, my bad. How silly of me (and of one of the Wonkette writers which I referenced) to see white folks dressed up in their Confederate finest, while the two (and only two, from what I can see from the photos posted on FitsNews) black people are dressed like slaves to draw a faulty conclusion from an advertised “live auction” at an event dubbed “A Southern Experience.”

An idiot? Maybe. A fucking idiot? Quit harshing my mellow.

How much were those black people paid, anyway? Do you know? You want to talk about the larger issue, which is why the hell such an event even took place at all? Or do you just want to feel awesome and superior?

And yeah, the two black people (whom I quoted, actually) who claim to have been educating people clearly did a great job because you went and googled Gullah after these asshats had to explain themselves. That makes sense. And by that, I mean it makes no sense at all.

That said, as soon as my server stops being a jerk, I’ll update the post after investigating further, and maybe the event will be downgraded from “racist as fuck” to just “racist.”

Sincerely,

Duchess Fucking Idiot

Then, today I found a link to an article entitled “Get That Worthless Nigger Out of the White House” on a friend’s Facebook wall and I made the unfortunate mistake of reading it and the comments. Continue reading

South Carolina Republicans Throw "A Southern Experience" Costume Party… Complete with Slaves

You can’t spell classy without “assy.”

The National Federation of Republican Women had their annual meeting in Charleston, South Carolina, and decided to celebrate the event with a costume party because who doesn’t love a costume party?  Probably the two Negroes who were hired to wear antebellum high fashion — you know… slave gear — and whomever was sold whatever the deal was with the LIVE AUCTION1 [see update below]:

Looks like fun, don’t it?

The National Federation of Republican Women (NFRW) held its annual fall Board of Directors meeting in Charleston, S.C. last weekend – a decision the organization is likely regretting after several controversial pictures from one of the meeting’s sponsored events began surfacing on the internet.

The event in question – dubbed “A Southern Experience” – was held last Friday evening at the Country Club of Charleston. Hosted by the South Carolina Federation of Republican Women, it was included on the national conference’s official itinerary.

In addition to McConnell, S.C. Gov. Mark Sanford attended (and spoke at) the event – although it was not listed on his weekly public schedule. S.C. Republican Attorney General nominee Alan Wilson also attended.

Invited speakers to the NFRW conference included U.S. House Minority Leader John Boehner, Senate Leader Mitch McConnell, RNC Chairman Michael Steele, Rep. Joe Wilson, House Speaker Bobby Harrell, former U.S. Ambassador David Wilkins and GOP gubernatorial nominee Nikki Haley.

South Carolina Senate President Glenn McConnell (he’s the white dude in the photo up there) defended the party:

Tell me what is offensive about having the differing parts of the culture there? What are we going to try and do in America, sanitize history?” McConnell said today from his office in the Statehouse. His office is decorated with memorabilia from his re-enactments of the Civil War, along with a law library and mementos such as a ceramic bust of Ronald Reagan and a figurine of a Boston Terrier.

What the ladies had put together was a smorgasbord of Southern culture, McConnell said. “It was reflected in the dress, the historical accuracy of the performances and even down to the food. It was a wonderful, entertaining and educational night for those visitors. It showed the approach we have in this state of a shared history.

… If somebody is trying to be politically correct and use a tunnel vision on it and hook in the slavery issue, they’re on a slippery slope toward narrow-mindedness and they should extend the charity of understanding. Receive it in the spirit that it is presented.2

Um, jackass?  Your state is home to: Continue reading
