‘God Hates Fags’ Church Preparing Ad for Oink Limbaugh Show

The Southern Poverty Law Center reports that Fred Phelps  and the bigoted wackaloons at Westboro Baptist Church are fixin’ to advertise on the Rush Limbaugh Show, if Oink will have them:

Guess who’s knocking on Rush Limbaugh’s door as his advertisers flee like rats from a sinking ship? It’s the people behind the infamous GodHatesFags website — the Westboro Baptist Church, the most notorious gay-bashing group in America — and they’re ready to step in to keep the embattled Limbaugh on the air.

Oink Limbaugh calls National Organization for Women ‘Nags’

Rush Limbaugh just won’t shut up

Isn’t he precious?  He calls the National Organization for Women “NAG,” which stands for “National Association of Gals.”  Because he’s just that clever:

Rush Limbaugh chided the National Organization for Women and its president, Terry O’Neill, on his syndicated radio show on Tuesday, over comments she made at the group’s convention in New Orleans.

“All of this outrage that they have been spewing for a week—how horrible it’s been, how uncouth,” Limbaugh said. “Just listen to her describe it.”

Limbaugh, whose show has lost dozens of advertisers in the fallout over his comments about Georgetown University law student Sandra Fluke, then played a clip from O’Neill’s speech on Saturday at the NOW convention.

Sandra Fluke: ‘These attempts to silence women and the men who support them have clearly failed.’

Sandra Fluke penned an outstanding op-ed for CNN in response to the personal smears and insults lobbed by Rush Limbaugh, Patricia Heaton, and CNN’s own Dana Loesch.

It’s a must-read:

(CNN) — Last month, students from several Catholic universities gathered to send a message to the nation that contraception is basic health care. I was among them, and I was proud to share the stories of my friends at Georgetown Law who have suffered dire medical consequences because our student insurance does not cover contraception for the purpose of preventing pregnancy.

I joined these students in speaking at a media event because I believe that stories of how real women are affected are the most powerful argument for access to affordable, quality reproductive health care services.

I also joined these students because now is a critical time to raise this issue in our public consciousness. Continue reading

Is it Time to Expand the #StopRush Campaign to #CNN?

For the past couple weeks, I’ve been highlighting the misogyny and outright disgusting behavior of a cabal of right-wingers, with Oink Limbaugh serving as the Misogynist-in-Chief.  (See below for a full list of posts.)

Limbaugh’s sexist rant against Sandra Fluke caused a social media firestorm, and that firestorm has yielded results. More than 150 advertiser have fled from Limbaugh like rats fleeing a sinking ship, forcing Limbaugh’s show to air free PSAs and, in some cases, to air nothing at all.  That’s right: radio silence during Limbaugh’s show.  It’s never happened before.

The StopRush campaign has done so much damage to Limbaugh that his advertising network, Premiere Networks made the unprecedented and “unusual” move of suspending its ad buys for two weeks. The claimed reason is branding something-or-other and makes absolutely no sense; I suspect that the Limbaugh crew expects that in two weeks, liberals will have moved on to a new issue and forgotten all about Limbaugh.

Sorry, that’s not going to happen.  Not this time. We’re not going to let that happen.

While we must keep up the pressure on Limbaugh’s local and national advertisers, and I think it might be time to take a look at the sort of hate speech that CNN — the purported “place for news” — supports by continuing to feature Breitbart’s hate-apprentice and Erik Erickson’s BFF, Dana Loesch.

#StopRush: Oink Limbaugh Scrubs Sexist Rant Against Sandra Fluke From Website

Apparently, Oink Limbaugh thinks if he just scrubs the filth from his website, it will just go away and everyone will forget.

From Think Progress:

The Atlantic Wire points out that his website has scrubbed a few offensive comments. While the “slut” comments still show up in other rants by Limbaugh, his site has removed his sex tapes comment from March 1.

Rush (the band) asks Rush (the human swine) to stop using their music

What a Rush

Via a Bob Cesca’s Awesome Blog! Go! exclusive, Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson and Neal Peart of Rush have asked Rush Limbaugh to stop using their magnificent music on his Hate Show.

Yesterday, I contacted Anthem Entertainment and Rush (the band) about Rush Limbaugh’s airing of its music on his show, and today I was exclusively informed that the legendary Canadian rock group has formally demanded that the Rush Limbaugh Program stop using its music on the air.

For years now, Rush Limbaugh has been playing Rush music (get it?) as bumpers out of his commercial breaks, including the tracks “Bravado” and “The Spirit of Radio”. In fact, when Limbaugh attacked Sandra Fluke and remarked about seeing sex tapes of Fluke in exchange for birth control pills, Limbaugh was playing the popular Rush track “The Spirit of Radio” under his rant.

Thankfully, that ends today.

I, Too, Will Accept Rush Limbaugh’s Apology

Having issued a written non-apology on Saturday, Rush Limbaugh went on air today and again apologized.  In an attempt to minimize the damage of his three-day, nine-hour rant against Sandra Fluke, Limbaugh said the following:

But this is the mistake I made. In fighting them on this issue last week, I became like them. Against my own instincts, against my own knowledge, against everything I know to be right and wrong, I descended to their level when I used those two words to describe Sandra Fluke. That was my error. I became like them, and I feel very badly about that. I’ve always tried to maintain a very high degree of integrity and independence on this program. Nevertheless, those two words were inappropriate, they were uncalled for, they distracted from the point that I was actually trying to make, and I again sincerely apologize to Ms. Fluke for using those two words to describe her.

I do not think she is either of those two words. I did not think last week that she is either of those two words. The apology to her over the weekend was sincere. It was simply for using inappropriate words in a way I never do, and in so doing I became like the people we oppose.

Sandra Fluke has already stated that she does not accept Rush Limbaugh’s apology because it is borne of pressure from advertisers and not sincerity.

But forget about her.

A more important figure at the center of the story has decided — quite graciously, indeed — to accept Rush Limbaugh’s apology.

That person — whose judgment about Limbaugh’s apology is absolutely crucial to any fair discussion of Limbaugh’s sins — is Mitt Romney.  During an appearance on The Sean Hannity’s Shitshow, Romney accepted Limbaugh’s apology and then followed Limbaugh’s lead, claiming that the real problem is that liberals spew venom.  Classic.

Thus, my announcement: Romney has inspired me to follow his lead.  I, too, will forgive Rush Limbaugh for using “those two words to describe Sandra Fluke,” if Rush Limbaugh will answer me one teensy tiny question about the following:
