But Michelle Obama's the one with the anger management issues.

So apparently Ann Romney, wanna-be First Lady, said this about the media:

[It's] getting harder and harder to be cheerful…. I am so mad at the press [that] I could just strangle them! And, you know, I think I’ve decided there are going to be some people invited on the bus and some people just aren’t going to be invited on the bus.

As Mother Jones’s Adam Serwer rightly pointed out on Twitter today: Imagine what would happen if Michelle Obama had said anything even remotely similar, adding:

You know, for such an angry black woman, I’m pretty sure I’ve never heard Michelle Obama talk about strangling anyone.

But she does like to encourage kids to exercise, and we all know that’s straight-up Kenyan Communism, mirite?!!1!?

Michelle Obama Does the Robot

OBOT ROCK.

To celebrate the second anniversary of her “Let’s Move” campaign, Michelle Obama joined a couple University of Northern Iowa students to lead 14,000 kids in the Interlude dance.

And then she does the robot, and continues to win at life:

You’re welcome.

Arianna Huffington Unironically Criticizes Michelle Obama

Have a seat, dear. The “I’m a Progressive” jig is up.

Her Royal Highness Huffington, Queen of the Limousine Liberals — who has coyly been floating “I might vote Republican in 2012″ trial balloons  – unironically offers her thoughts on Michelle Obama… as if anybody cares:

ARIANNA HUFFINGTON (24:24): I’d love [Michelle] to be more [like] Eleanor Roosevelt right now, because the country needs an Eleanor Roosevelt who’s going to go around and at the same time that she’s doing fundraisers in Beverly Hills and Bel Air, she should go to South Central [Los Angeles], I mean, if I were Michelle Obama right now, I would not go anywhere for a fundraiser without going and seeing the places where there is pain, where there is struggle, where there is homelessness, where there is unemployment.

A Picture Worth A Thousand Insults

A recent spoof of a painting of Marie Antoinette takes a cheap shot at Michelle Obama. That in itself is disturbing. In this case, the altered portrait isn’t just sexist, it’s racist as hell. It’s disrespectful on every level. Maybe they don’t know their history, but Michelle Obama couldn’t be more different than Antoinette. Not that those pesky facts usually get in the way.

Remarks have been made about Michelle Obama’s appearance. What the hell? First of all, how can they be so cheerfully incorrect? She is fit and toned and slender, as anyone with eyes can determine for themselves. Or, as our own Ian Boudreau (@iboudreau) said on Twitter yesterday morning: Rush Limbaugh apparently likes to imply that Michelle Obama is “fat.” And people believe him. I don’t understand how this works. Continue reading

Query: Why can’t Michelle Obama get mad?

Not disagreeing with my Angry Black Overlady – merely adding different fuel to the fire!

First, the caveat: I have not read, nor do I plan to read, the book about which everyone is now buzzing, Jodi Kantor’s The Obamas.

But one of the narratives that has floated to the surface in discussions surrounding the book is the old, old argument that Michelle Obama is An Angry Black Woman. She clashed with Rahm Emmanuel, we’re told. She declared life in the White House to be “hell.” She is, herself, hell on wheels.

And you know what? I don’t know. I will say that I don’t think reading The Obamas will really help me any, given that many of the parties involved are calling it a bunch of hooey. (Emmanuel, for one, has said it’s complete nonsense to suggest that he and FLOTUS fought, and Michelle Obama has said that there has “never been a cross word” between her and the ex-Chief of Staff. Both have asserted that they and their spouses are “dear friends,” and who am I to think they’re all lying a very carefully coordinated lie?)

The fact that Michelle Obama strikes me as funny, warm, generous, and wildly intelligent is neither here nor there. I don’t know her. I have in the past had a certain impression of famous people only to find something very different when actually meeting said famous person. It’s not unheard of.

But I will say this: Whatever else Mrs. Obama may be, she is human.

No, I know!

Michelle Obama's Interview with Gayle King and the ABW Stereotype

“Who can write about how I feel? Who? What third person can tell me how I feel?”

“Michelle Obama Tired of Angry Black Woman Stereotype.”  That’s today’s headline.  Except, that’s not what Michelle Obama said.  In her interview with Gayle King, Michelle Obama noted that some people have tried to paint an image of her as some angry black woman.  That’s a far cry from lamenting or being tired of the stereotype.

Here’s Michelle’s interview with Gayle King:

First Lady Of The Nation, Last Resort Of A Scoundrel

It seems that if there’s something the Clown Car Right and the Manic Progressive Left can agree on, it’s how much they dislike Michelle Obama behind the scenes.

Republican First Ladies are all saints, and Democratic ones are all cast iron bitches, apparently.  Two stories indicate that 2012 as an election year means Michelle Obama is fair game.  First, we get one step closer to the n-word

Kansas House Speaker Mike O’Neal on Thursday apologized for an email that made fun of first lady Michelle Obama’s hair style and mockingly called her “Mrs. YoMama.”

The emails featured pictures comparing Mrs. Obama to the Grinch, a Dr. Seuss character, because of their similarly wind-blown hair.

“Sorry, just had to forward this latest holiday message,” O’Neal reportedly wrote in the email he shared with fellow Republican lawmakers. “I’ve had worse hair days, but this is pretty funny.”

According to The Lawrence Journal World, O’Neal forwarded from his personal computer the email that said, “I’m sure you’ll join me in wishing Mrs. YoMama a wonderful, long Hawaii Christmas vacation – at our expense, of course.”

Boy, I remember all the horribly racist emails about Laura Bush.  Oh wait, never happened.  And they’ll keep doing it and apologizing only when they get busted as long as they can keep getting away with it.  Continue reading
