Herman Cain's Final Flip-Flop on Abortion [updated w/ video]

He finally got it right! There’s no more flip for him to flop!

Life begins at some point during the time it takes me to complete my creepy-ass smile.

Herman Cain really should have read his War on Women GOP Handbook before he allowed himself to be questioned on his stances on abortion. He has flip-flopped so many times it’s hard to keep track.

Luckily Think Progress already broke it down:

Abortion Is ‘Her Choice’: Over the course of one Fox News interview on Oct. 11, Cain insisted that “people shouldn’t be free to abort because if we don’t protect the sanctity of life from conception, we will also start to play God relative to life at the end of life.” But when asked whether a rape victim should have the choice, Cain said, “That’s her choice. That’s not government choice.”

The GOP’s War On Women Continues

lilith.org

The Protect Life Act was just another battle in the GOP war on women. Angry Black Lady and asiangrrlMN have already shared their thoughts and covered it very well. They very eloquently and thoroughly expressed the rage I and thousands of other women feel while having our options controlled by people who don’t give a damn about us.

However, don’t forget that this is just one of many battles. As 2012 comes nearer, it’s time to refresh our memories about some of the other ways women are punished just for being women. Palin and Bachmann are puppets meant to show how open-minded the GOP is. While the political Barbies flutter their eyelashes, spout doctrine and say “gosh, by golly” the Republicans openly take rights from and withhold fairness from half the country.

Let’s start with the unanimous vote to restrict women from equal pay. Protect Life at the risk of the mother’s health? Sure. Paycheck Fairness Act? Oh hell no. Now, one has to ask what they had to gain from purposely blocking fair pay for women. Women weren’t asking for more pay, nothing extra whatsoever, just fair and equal treatment. What about that is so offensive that every single Republican voted to block it? Well, if you follow the link you will see that they feared it would be a burden on small businesses. That’s the best they could do.

"Let Women Die" Bill passes the House; President Obama Will Veto if Necessary

Republicans hate women.

Demonstrating yet again that Republicans prefer waging a war on women than a war on unemployment, the House passed an anti-abortion bill that appropriately has been deemed the “Let Women Die” bill. All House Republicans plus eleven Democrats (!!!??) voted for the bill. (The bill is expected to die in the Senate, but if it doesn’t, President Obama has said he will veto it.)

The bill permits hospitals that receive federal funding to turn away women who seek an abortion even if the procedure is necessary to save the woman’s life:

The GOP-led House of Representatives is voting Thursday on a bill that Republicans say is necessary to keep taxpayer money from funding abortions but that Democrats call “savage” to women and possibly deadly.

The Protect Life Act would bar federal funding for abortions. It would also prohibit women from using tax subsidies acquired through President Obama’s health care reforms to pay for health insurance that covers abortion, except in the cases of rape, incest or risk to the mother’s health. Additionally, the bill would let health care providers refuse to perform an abortion if it violates their personal beliefs.

So if Mary McPreggers heads to her local hospital and that hospital just happens to be run by Doctor Ratched the Pro-life Forced-birth Teabilly Evangelist, the hospital would be within its right to simply push Mary out on to the street and leave her there to die, Hippocratic oath be damned.

Nancy Pelosi called the measure “just appalling” and a “savage” attempt to withhold healthcare for women. She also said, “When the Republicans vote for this bill today, they will be voting to say that women can die on the floor.”

GOP's War on Women Careens Onward; Obama Administration Throws Up Roadblocks

Republicans are trying to climb inside your uterus again.

During the last budget showdown, the Republicans showed America its battle-plan for the War on Women: the GOP is trying like hell to defund Planned Parenthood.  At the time, I wrote the following:

I have (or at least I think I have) avoided coming right out and stating that Republicans hate women. It seemed to be such a gross and unfair generalization.

But with each passing day, as they attempt to redefine “rape” and “rape victim”; as they attempt to pass legislation that permits Dr. Conscientious Objector to refuse to perform emergency abortion services and to also not require hospitals to transfer women to a facility that will provide such services (thus, quite literally, leaving women to die); as they attempt to redefine justifiable homicide such that the murder of any person threatening the life of a fetus becomes justified (does this include the murder of the mother herself? Can a scorned boyfriend or husband decide to murder his girlfriend or wife because he suspects that she intends to make a choice about her body and whether or not to carry a pregnancy to term?), it becomes more and more difficult for me to avoid stating the obvious:

REPUBLICANS.HATE.WOMEN.

I wasn’t wrong.

Republicans are at it again: This time, in a calculated political attack, they have requested financial records from Planned Parenthood Federation for America just to make sure that it isn’t violating the Hyde Amendment and using funds for abortion:

GOP War on Women: New Hampshire Planned Parenthood Forced to Stop Dispensing Contraceptives

Your uterus is not safe from the long-speculum of the GOP law

The New Hampshire GOP is all up in your lady business and they aren’t even going to give you a courtesy cuddle.

You see, in order to operate in New Hampshire, Planned Parenthood must have a state contract. And Republicans in New Hampshire have ensured that Planned Parenthood cannot get that contract, thus stripping Planned Parenthood of 1.8 million dollars in state and federal funds over the next two years.

One member of the Council who voted against awarding the contract stated that the contract should be awarded to an organization that doesn’t perform abortions. (All of the abortions performed at New Hampshire Planned Parenthood locations are funded by private donation.) Fantastic, eh?

The culture war continues on the front lines of  women’s hoo-has, and a significant casualty of this war on women is that Planned Parenthood Centers in New Hampshire no longer distribute contraceptives:

Arizona Bans Race- and Sex-Based “Hate Abortions”; Dials Up Batshit Insanity to Eleven

More dumbassery than you can shake a wire hanger at.

Yesterday, Jan Brewer, the Wicked Witch of Arizona, signed into law House Bill 2443, which makes it a felony for a doctor to perform an abortion based on the sex or race of the fetus.

THIS JUST IN: part of your head just exploded.

In pushing this bill through, Republicans in Arizona relied on “statistics” showing that a high percentage of minority women are seeking abortions in clinics purposefully located in minority communities.  Republicans also cited statistics demonstrating that some populations are seeking more and more abortions because they don’t like the sex of the fetus (really!?  no the fuck they’re not.)

BREAKING: the rest of your head just exploded.

Essentially, this law attempts to turn abortion into a hate crime in order to lend an air of credibility to the absolutely bullshit theory that abortion is some sort of black genocide.

::sigh::

Here’s the thing about hate crimes: They are different from “regular” crimes in that proof of hate crimes require proof of a little somethin’ extra — prejudicial motivation.

For example: It’s one thing to assault a guy and steal his wallet. It’s quite another thing to assault a guy while calling him a homo and screaming about how you’re going to teach queers a lesson, and then steal his wallet. Both are crimes. The latter is fairly undeniably a hate crime.

Of course, the former may also be a hate crime; maybe the assailant only steals gay people’s wallets and maybe he keeps a journal somewhere entitled Number of Queer Wallets Stolen. Suck it, Homos! which can be introduced as evidence against him. But unless a prosecutor can prove a prejudicial motivation beyond a reasonable doubt, no conviction for a hate crime will result.

In order to morph a run-of-the-mill assault – an act intended to cause an apprehension of harmful or offensive contact, and which causes apprehension in the victim that harmful or offensive contact is imminent — into a hate crime, a prosecutor must prove that the accused’s undisclosed intent was based upon prejudice.

So, not only does a prosecutor have to get inside the accused’s mind to prove intent, the prosecutor must then go one layer deeper into the accused’s mind to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that bias or prejudice formed the foundation for that intent.

If you’re confused, you should be. A hate crime is, essentially, the Inception of crimes — a crime within a crime.

With that in mind, I give you a brief rant:
