Blackwaterdog left a void when she went on hiatus (Come back soon!), so we at ABLC will try to fill that void by posting more news about Obama’s accomplishments. Sometimes we’ll post photos as well (as Eclectablog did last week) because — I don’t know about you — but the man puts a smile on my face.
I’m proud this man is our president, and I’m sick to death of having to defend that. I’m sick of dealing with people who think supporting the president is a character flaw. I’m sick of the trolls on Twitter whose first and only question is “Soooooo, you’re okay with everything that POTUS does?” Yes. Of course. Because when one expresses one’s support for someone, it means supporting them 100% all the time, and twice on Sundays. Give me a break.
Oh, and sometimes we’ll post pictures of the Bidens, because we like them, too:
I seem to have kicked the proverbial hornet’s nest. Started my “I’m back from hiatus” off with a bang! Shit is crazy out there. People have lost their minds. (I lost mine long ago; it’s actually not so bad.) If you stopped by to rage at me, go for it. If there’s anyone who understands the need to vent some anger (whether righteous or not), it’s me. But when you’re done, maybe just think about it. It’s really not that hard to figure out.
From Dennis G.:
“I have to say that when I heard of Greenwald’s comment earlier today I just shook my head. For some it is not enough just to attack Obama 24/7 they must go after anybody who supports him. The Obot slur was getting old, so I guess now supporters of Obama are Nazis. It was a straight-up TeaBagger move by Greenwald and he should be called out on it.
That said this is all just fucking stupid. One wonders when we will find the space to unite against our common foes again. From the look of things it will be a while.
But it was more than the general Obots are Nazis meme that I found odd in his comments. It was also that he completely displayed ignorance about Riefenstahl and her lasting impact on the visual vocabulary of politics.
It is worth pointing out that Leni Riefenstahl was an excellent filmmaker who lent her considerable skills to support the goals of fascism. She did not just put together a string of photographs shot by others with some comments. To compare the work of Riefenstahl to the work of BWD is a failure on multiple levels. Even when just comparing the images each put together there is no comparison. Riefenstahl was a propagandist and filmmaker at the top of her game and she created a political visual vocabulary that is still used today in political ads from around the world. BWD is a blogger who puts up photos and comments on her wordpress site. It is like equating a puddle to an ocean because you think they are both wet. Continue reading →
