I, Too, Will Accept Rush Limbaugh’s Apology

Having issued a written non-apology on Saturday, Rush Limbaugh went on air today and again apologized.  In an attempt to minimize the damage of his three-day, nine-hour rant against Sandra Fluke, Limbaugh said the following:

But this is the mistake I made. In fighting them on this issue last week, I became like them. Against my own instincts, against my own knowledge, against everything I know to be right and wrong, I descended to their level when I used those two words to describe Sandra Fluke. That was my error. I became like them, and I feel very badly about that. I’ve always tried to maintain a very high degree of integrity and independence on this program. Nevertheless, those two words were inappropriate, they were uncalled for, they distracted from the point that I was actually trying to make, and I again sincerely apologize to Ms. Fluke for using those two words to describe her.

I do not think she is either of those two words. I did not think last week that she is either of those two words. The apology to her over the weekend was sincere. It was simply for using inappropriate words in a way I never do, and in so doing I became like the people we oppose.

Sandra Fluke has already stated that she does not accept Rush Limbaugh’s apology because it is borne of pressure from advertisers and not sincerity.

But forget about her.

A more important figure at the center of the story has decided — quite graciously, indeed — to accept Rush Limbaugh’s apology.

That person — whose judgment about Limbaugh’s apology is absolutely crucial to any fair discussion of Limbaugh’s sins — is Mitt Romney.  During an appearance on The Sean Hannity’s Shitshow, Romney accepted Limbaugh’s apology and then followed Limbaugh’s lead, claiming that the real problem is that liberals spew venom.  Classic.

Thus, my announcement: Romney has inspired me to follow his lead.  I, too, will forgive Rush Limbaugh for using “those two words to describe Sandra Fluke,” if Rush Limbaugh will answer me one teensy tiny question about the following:

Radio Stations Begin Dropping Rush Limbaugh

Hell hath no fury…

The social media firestorm over Limbaugh’s oinkiness shows no signs of slowing down. So far, twelve advertisers have either suspended or canceled their advertisements during Limbaugh’s show.

And now, two radio stations have decided to stop airing his show; one in Hawaii (which is totally a state by the way, and not — I repeat — not a foreign country) and one in Pittsfield, Massachussetts:

Following the nationwide uproar over Rush Limbaugh‘s controversial comments about Georgetown University law student Sandra Fluke, Hilo, Hawaii’s KPUA-AM 670 has decided to drop his program.

Patricia Heaton is a Coward (w/ screenshot)

Over the weekend while my server was getting a makeover, I posted on my Tumblr about Patricia Heaton’s jokes misogynist insults lobbed at Sandra Fluke.  I am reposting here.

******

Patricia Heaton, star of ABC’s The Middle, high-tailed it off of Twitter recently, presumably because she could not defend the nasty and misogynistic insults that she lobbed at Sandra Fluke. She also encouraged her “Tweatons” to lob at Ms. Fluke.

Unfortunately for her, in connection with one of my posts on Oink-Gate, I took a screenshot of her Twitter stream. Here it is:

Issa's False Equivalence on Limbaugh's Misogyny

Issa Fail

Darrell Issa’s response to the Limbaugh Affair is typical “both sides do it” nonsense:

House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) said in a letter on Friday that Democrats had a “narrow focus” on Rush Limbaugh calling Georgetown University law student Sandra Fluke a “slut” for her testify about contraception coverage and said members of his staff had been attacked as well.

Oink Limbaugh's Rant Against Sandra Fluke [updated]

I just made the mistake of skimming a full transcript of Oink’s rant against Sandra Fluke, and I feel like showering.  Honestly.  It’s just disgusting.

RUSH:  You know, folks, millions of women enjoy sex in the back of a car.  You have some women that can’t afford a car.  What are we to do?  What is our solution to women who prefer sex in the backseat of a car but can’t afford a car?

President Obama: A feminist – & really nice.

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again: The President of these United States is a feminist. It would also appear that he is a really nice guy.

Further indication of both:

President Obama called Sandra Fluke, the Georgetown University law student who testified at a House contraception hearing. Rush Limbaugh recently had harsh words for Fluke, calling her a “slut.”

Georgetown Law Student Sandra Fluke Responds to Oink Limbaugh

In response to Limbaugh’s stupidity this week, Fluke had this to say:

“I thank the thousands of women and men, including members of Congress, Georgetown University students and faculty, and total strangers of all political stripes across the country who have offered kind words and support following recent egregious personal attacks. Continue reading

Oink Limbaugh Demands that Sandra Fluke Post Sex Tapes Online

Limbaugh is so disgusting that he’s not worthy of my contempt.

As such, I write this post only to demonstrate how deliberately manipulative (and wantonly dickish) he is, having managed to convince right-wing assclowns like Patricia Heaton (who knew she was such an asshole?) that Fluke wanted birth control to have more sex, when in actuality she was relaying the story of a friend who needed birth control to manage a medical condition.

But whatever. Facts don’t matter because GIRLZ HAB BAJINAS LOL:

[O]n his radio show today, Limbaugh showed no remorse and instead reveled in the attention. Referring to Fluke, Limbaugh demanded that women post sex tapes online if they use insurance-covered birth control:

LIMBAUGH: So Miss Fluke, and the rest of you Feminazis, here’s the deal. If we are going to pay for your contraceptives, and thus pay for you to have sex. We want something for it. We want you post the videos online so we can all watch.
