Jon Stewart Fires Back at Donald Trump over "Racist" Charge

“I’ve taken criticism before. I’ve been called racist, stupid, an asshole, but this one hurts because of how much I respect Donald Trump…”

Yesterday I wrote a post about the silly Orange Supremacist calling Jon Stewart racist because Stewart used a funny voice to make a joke about kidnapping babies.

In response, John Cole said the following:

Do these idiots ever learn? Did Trump not see what happened to Jim Cramer? [Here's what happened to Jim Cramer. It isn't pretty. -ed.]

Why would you fuck with a guy who is wicked smart, surrounded by talented comedic writers and performers who basically have nothing to do but figure out how to spend a half hour of television time every night?

Nope. They never learn. And the writers at The Daily Show did not disappoint, using Trump’s dumbassery as a hook for hilarity about Ann “We Have Very Impressive Blacks” Coulter and her cockamamie notion that Herman Cain is “blacker” than Obama:

Donald Trump the Orange Supremacist calls Jon Stewart Racist; Has a Pot-Kettle Problem

Irony to the white courtesy phone, please.

Donald “I have a good relationship with The Blacks™” Trump is calling for Jon Stewart’s head. Apparently, he lives in a world where making a joke about kidnapping babies is racist.

No, it doesn’t make any sense:

In his latest Youtube video Tuesday afternoon, the birther-curious host of The Apprentice had a lengthy rant about Stewart’s confusion over Cain’s response to the sexual harassment charges.”

“How come Jon Stewart gets away with a racist rant against Herman Cain?” Trump asked. “Nobody else could pull that off. Where is Rev. Jackson? Where is Rev. Sharpton? Where are all the critics where if someone else did it, it would be a disaster?”

Donald Trump Replaced as Indy 500 Pace Car Driver

I really can’t handle another “You’re Fired” joke

Renowned Orange Supremacist Donald Trump was slated to drive the pace car for the 100th anniversary Indy 500, but fans — led by Indianapolis attorney Michael Wallack — raised a stink about it, arguing that he is “too politically motivated.”

Wallack had this to say about Trump:

I have no problem if Trump dislikes President Obama or his policies. But to step over the line into the realm of conspiracy-mongering is not good for politics or for America. And it should not be rewarded with the honor of driving the pace car at the Indianapolis 500.

Indeed.

Jalopnik reported earlier today that the Indy speedway folks were trying to figure out a way to dump Trump, after Trump claimed that he wouldn’t go quietly.

But, apparently, now that he has decided that he really is running for President, like ferreals ferreals, Trump has bowed out of the Indy 500 festivities:

An Open Letter of Grief: After the Thunder Comes the Rain

Yesterday, I wrote a diatribe to the MSM about my fury at having to watch the President of the United States present his free papers to Donald Trump and the birthers.  I was righteous as I pulled my rusty pitchfork out of the garden shed and went to town on the MSM. Oh, it felt good to have the fury burn through me.

Underneath all that anger, however, was a deeper emotion. One that was much harder to reveal: Pain. Grief. An almost-unbearable heartbreak. Watching the President of the United States justifying his citizenship hurt me in a visceral way. There is a thread over at Balloon Juice comparing the way Obama’s been treated to the way Clinton was treated. The basic message was, Democratic presidents have always had to deflect vicious criticism, rumors, and lies. A few people of color tried to explain why this was different while also acknowledging that yes, all Democratic presidents have been demonized.  Here is my comment as a few people vocally appreciated it in that thread and the thread above it:

Republicans will delegitimize any Democratic president. This is true. It’s just, for those of us not white, talking about the racism THIS president faces as tangential or just another tactic or part of the same-old same-old does not sit well. As I explained to a friend last night, it’s personal. The most accomplished black manin this fucking country had to show his fucking papers. A thoroughly mediocre, stupid, and loathsome white man who would have been slinging burgers and asking if you want fries with that were it not for his good fortune of being born to an incredibly rich man is PROUD to question this president about his (Obama’s) heritage, grades, and whatever. And, the fucking media are only too happy to lap it up without calling it for what it really is.

Yesterday was heartbreaking and infuriating at the same time for many people of color. I think that is what is being overlooked in this thread.

I had a few immediate responses, and I made a second comment to clarify my thoughts.  To my surprise, I was in tears–and not for the first time since Obama released his LFBC. In that second  comment, I said that while I DO know all Democratic presidents have been attacked, demonized, and discredited, this hurt in a purely personal way. Therefore, I can’t focus on the bigger picture of how this is yet one more attack on a Democratic president using race as chum. So, I stepped out of the thread.

White Americans really need to shut up and listen.

Yesterday, the President of the United States did an unprecedented thing: He broke into broadcast schedules and in an unscheduled press conference, showed the world the piece of paper that proves what the world already knew to be true:

He was born in America.

I was in the car, in the midst of  a million and one things, when the news came to me via NPR. I heard the term “long-form” and genuinely cracked up. “Long-form” has long been an inside joke of sorts between Angry Black Lady and her blogging minions — someone acts sketchy? We demand to see their long form. Someone refuses to be reasonable? Long-form!

I listened to what the President had to say, entirely approved of his use of the phrase “side-shows and carnival barkers,” and was incensed, if unsurprised, when I heard Donald Trump later crowing about his role in the whole sordid affair (not to mention his outrageous suggestion that he would have to set his eyes on the birth certificate personally before he would be convinced). This was a typical Obama move, frankly — POTUS is very good at separating his ego from the stupid and the trivial, tossing out bones that don’t matter, in order to protect that which does.

And I knew, just like all of us knew, that none of it would change a thing for most birthers — after all, when reason closes a door, crazy opens a window. I harbored some slim hope that Obama’s reveal might make Donald Trump go away, but didn’t really believe that slim hope to be a reasonable one. And lo – I was right.

What I did not anticipate, on any level, was how the whole sad story was playing among black Americans (update: By which I mean: I didn’t anticipate that watching the most powerful black man in history being forced to show his papers would resonate on such a deeply personal, grief-inducing level for an entire community of American citizens).

Heartbroken at the Suffocating Racism and Outraged at the Apologists

This.

Of today’s events — Obama’s release of his long-form birth certificate and Trump’s gloating response — Baratunde Thurston (Jack Turner) of Jack & Jill Politics writes:

It was during my viewing of this video [Trump's remarks in New Hampshire] that I began to cry. I thought of my ancestors, both direct and collective, who had fought and died so that I might be treated as an American. I then thought of this fetid, smug, hate-filled, wealthy white man taking credit for the release and yet still not being satisfied. It does not matter how long we’ve been in these United States. We will never be American.

So, tears in my eyes, pain in my heart and rage in my soul, I composed this video message. More than written text, it comes close to expressing my full pain at witnessing a white man who was handed everything call the President of the United States (and me) a nigger.

Here’s the video he recorded:

It hurts more than I thought it would. I’m taking it more personally than perhaps seems rational, but I feel sucker-punched.

Dear Media: Fuck You with my Trusty Rusty Pitchfork; An Open Letter to the MSM

Dear (Un)Professional Media:

Hi.

My name is asiangrrlMN. I am a lefty blogger at the highly-esteemed blog, Angry Black Lady Chronicles. I am not Black or a Lady, but I am definitely Angry, and today? My ire is aimed directly at you. Because, you all fucking suck, first of all. You’re all about your fucking ratings and making sure that you don’t upset the status quo. You will report on shit like the Kardashians (the fact that I even fucking know who they are kills my soul a little bit) and the stupid British wedding (note, we are Americans. We fought against the British purportedly to get away from all this monarchy bullshit*) and all the other mundane bullshit that passes for news these days.

Confession time:  I have very little use for you.  I don’t watch any news, cable or broadcast, and I read very little old-timey news, either in paper form (none) or on the web (very very little).  I read blogs I trust, and when they direct me to the latest chicanery of the day by the MSM, I sometimes click on the link with great reluctance.   This means I don’t watch ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, or any other so-called news network.  I used to watch Rachel, but I haven’t done that in months, either.  I rather imbibe my news by reading about it because I get to control the pace of the information download, and I find TV news to be seriously broken.

That said, I don’t live in a complete vacuum.  I know what the MSM is babbling about most days, and my disgust has grown quantum leaps in the past few weeks since Donald Trump declared that he might declare, but he might not.  But, at any rate, he’s a smart guy who, you know, is such a success**, and, you know, he’s not sure the president was born in this country.

Stop.  Stop right there.  This is one of my conversation-stoppers.  If someone says s/he isn’t sure whether President Obama was born in this country, that person loses all credibility with me.  As a terrorist anchor baby*** myself, I take much exception to this entire line of questioning and to the nerve of people demanding the president produce proof of his birth (beyond the birth certificate he’s already shown). If someone wants to make a ridiculous claim, it’s up to that person to prove his/her claim, not to the person being accused to prove it’s not true–which isn’t fucking possible, anyway.  You can’t prove a negative.

America to Donald Trump: You're Fired! (UPDATES!)

Donald Trump, having a bad hair day

To: Robert Greenblatt, Chairman, NBC Entertainment

From: the people of America

Re: Celebrity Apprentice/Donald Trump

Mr. Greenblatt, we are writing to you today to call your attention to an intractable problem, one to which NBC Entertainment is contributing, and to offer two proposed solutions to this problem.

You have in your employ a person by the name of Mr. Donald Trump, who performs for your network on an entertainment program titled Celebrity Apprentice. Mr. Trump has expressed keen interest in America’s governance and a desire to declare himself a candidate for the office of President of the United States.
