The Wisdom Of Sarah Palin On The Civil War!

If there has ever been a better example of someone being given a national platform who has no business being in the role, it is Sarah Palin. Watch this clip, if you can, or read the partial transcript (after the jump) courtesy of Steve M. at Booman’s Tribune.

“SARAH PALIN: … He is bringing us back, Sean, to days that — you can hearken back to days before the Civil War, when, unfortunately, too many Americans mistakenly believed that not all men were created equal, and it was the Civil War that began the codification of the truth that here in America, yes, we are equal and we all have equal opportunities, not based on the color of your skin. You have equal opportunity to work hard and to succeed and to embrace the opportunities, God-given opportunities, to develop resources and work extremely hard and, as I say, to succeed. Now, it has taken all these years for many Americans to understand that gravity, that mistake, that took place before the Civil War, and why the Civil War had to really start changing America. What Barack Obama seems to want to do is go back to before those days, when we were in different classes, based on income, based on color of skin. Why are we allowing our country to move backwards instead of moving forward with that understanding that, as our charters of liberty spell out for us, we are all created equal?”

What an amazing intellect on that woman!

  1. That woman is out of her mind. A black man wants to take us back to the days of slavery??? A black man married to a woman who is the descendant of slaves???

Palin must have many boxes of stupid in her pantry because it sure seems like she eats a huge bowl of it every day.

translation: TEH DARKIES ARE COMIN TO TAKE THEIR REVENGE AND ENSLAVE US!!!!!!! AND DRONZESZZZZ!!!!

In related news: I have paid off my student loan in full. And by “related”, I mean “not related in any way, shape, or form, but imma still brag about it anyway!”.

    • Congrats on paying off the loan, sir! I paid off my mortgage (okay, the life insurance policy my late mother left actually did that) a few years ago and a great sigh of relief ensued. So even though my condo is worth just slightly more than half what I paid for it in 2006, at least I’m not paying interest on a loan for a property that has plunged in value. Duh, winning!

    • You know, I hadn’t come up with that connection. Holy shit, it’s like 100x worse now.

That said, congrats on paying that off, enjoy the money you’re not blowing trying to get that dealt with!

  3. That Guy With The Ponytail

Caribou Barbie is dumber than a bag of hammers, and I do apologize to the hand tool industry at large for the comparison.

  4. The GOP has really lost it if we’re not claiming a liberal Black President wants to reinstate slavery. WTF?!

  5. She’s, uh, not too clear on the concept, is she?

  6. Well, she’s absolutely right about one thing. There really is income disparity between slaves and not-slaves.

As always with Snowdrift Snooki, I am trying to actually figure out what she’s trying to say.

I believe she’s saying that the Civil War magically made all people equal, meaning that one hundred years of post-war discrimination and Jim Crow just didn’t happen, in her world. Who knew?

  7. I’m thinking that the “thinking” behind this is actually along the lines of ‘The Civil War ended a hundred years ago; blacks are only at a disadvantage now because they truly are inferior. Anyone who talks about “racism” as if anything but the actual inferiority of minorities is responsible for the troubles they have is just trying to blame white people for the inferiority of dark people and trying to make whites equal with inferiors by using force and trickery, because that’s the only way to level the playing field and bring the whole (white) society down to the level of the criminal and licentious people of color.’

We’re white. They’re not. They just wish they were.

What in God’s name was she blathering about? Was there a point in there somewhere? It sounded like she was alluding to Obama’s push to increase taxes on millionaires, but the statement she actually made was that Obama wants to return to the days of slavery, back when people weren’t equal. …Because, you know, EVERYONE is equal these days, right?

Seeing videos like this makes me reminisce about the 2008 election, when you’d fall off your chair laughing at the GOP candidates.

    I miss that woman.

What is going on inside Palins head?!! Even blind idiology can’t explain the total nonsense coming out of her mouth. As much as it would be a utter pleasure to do the dozens about Sarah Palin, I decline. She is her own worst enemy. And no matter how many Palanistas she can acquire to gin up her inflated ego, it will pale compared to the masses who consider her a political lightweight and possibly developmentally challenged.
I hope when this election is over somebody in her family gets the stones to tell her to cut it out cause she is looking unhinged and may get Trigg taken away from her.

  10. Geez….I thought her 15 minutes were up.
