GOP Still Pretending Abortion is 'Black Genocide'

Give it a rest already.

I’ve written before about PRENDA (Susan B. Anthony and Frederick Douglass Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act) and the nonsense “abortion is black genocide” narrative (here).  As you may recall, it’s the basis for Operation Spite Babies.

I don’t have much to add on the matter, but I do want to point out this quote about which I have been laughing all morning:

“It’s kind of hard to find evidence that a black woman is going to have an abortion because she’s surprised to find her baby is black. It just strains credulity to think that’s a problem,” [Loretta Ross, the national coordinator of SisterSong, a reproductive justice organization for women of color in Atlanta.] says with a hearty laugh. “I mean, she wakes up in the morning and says ‘Oh my god! My baby’s black?’”

I laugh to keep from crying.

  1. I see those damn billboards everywhere and frankly want to burn them to the ground. Any POC that believes these fetus-fetish rednecks give a damn about Black or Brown babies needs their heads examined and their asses summarily whooped. Until some of the zygote lovers support families once these ‘little snowflakes’ become full fledged human beings, they can kiss my rear.

To lay out my point, how can a dick like Santorum be considered moral because he didn’t terminate his wife pregnancy and birth a very sick daughter (God bless him for that) while openly disparages children dying in a hospital from cancer because he’s in the back pocket of Big Pharma and Big Insurance? To me, for him to mock sick and dying people the way he did is just outright wrong.

As a Christian, I am abhorred how morals are now boiled down to what sexual organs interlock, whether swear or can produce a small West African village of children instead of how you treat your fellow man and how you advocate for those in need. Disgusting.

Rick Santorum is a complete corporate hack who has made millions whoring himself to whatever corporation will fund his candidacy. But he’s some how more moral than Barack Obama because he finds gay sex icky and his wife doesn’t use a diaphragm? Mitt Romney’s moral because he couldn’t find anyone else but his wife to sleep with him and he talks like Ward Cleaver, even though he made his money driving millions of workers into bankruptcy and simply thinks of American poor people the way I think of Unicorns. Gingrich is the same callous, pompous bigoted prick he’s always been – but he’s “forgiven” because he bashes his own gay sister and he’s too old to chasing skirts? And don’t get me started on Ron Paul.

Overall, we’ve boiled down morality to ‘gonadal politics’, which from the Scriptures, Jesus, His Disciples and the Old Testament prophets cared little about.

  2. Yeah, what Cappadonna said. (Holy crap that was an amazing response!)

  3. My brain hurts.

    What?

  4. Republicans fear that if too many black women have abortions, twenty years from now the prison-industrial complex will suffer from a lack of black people to incarcerate for profit.

  5. OH SHIT MY KIDS WOULD BE BLACK?!?!

    …oh wait. Good.

  6. You know, because this site is called AngryBlackLady or whatever, I thought I’d do some drive-by whitesplaining about black genocide because you’ve probably never thought about how black women have abortions, too. You’re cool with that, right?

  7. Maybe they just want black women to get used to birthing lots of babies because Scientists are working on some gizmo that will allow black women to give birth to white babies which will be adopted by not-gay couples.

    I’m just spit-balling.

  8. I wanna have a black baby now just for spite.

    • “How To Do It: Guides To Good Living For Renaissance Italians” indicates that sixteenth-century medical thinking held that a woman might have a baby of a race different from herself and her husband if she saw a virtuous man of some other race riding in a parade, or in a painting. Apparently, seeing a good-looking and courageous black man wearing some sexy armor may lead to having a black baby, even if you and hubby are both extremely white.

I suspect that, along with a tad of adultery, this may have also been something that explained forgotten genes resurfacing to people who knew crap about genetics. However, it just makes me giggle.

  9. I have a question about Operation Spite Babies.

Can we black women only have babies with black men? I’m asking this you see because if in the very minute chance I run into Viggo Mortensen and he wanted to impregnate me, I want to make sure I’m still contributing to the cause. If not then I’m just gonna have to hunt down Anthony Mackie. ;)

Thanks for this article! Although there is truth in the subject it is being used by the right for wrong!
