Crossposting from Bob Cesca’s blog, here’s one emoprog’s take on the SOTU:
“So to recap:
-I killed Osama
-Fracking
-Teacher reform without education funding increases
-I killed Osama
-Work together to accomplish shit
-Take credit for toothless financial regulations that do nothing
-End silly regulations
-Corporate tax breaks
-I killed Osama
-Everyone in high school til 18
-Corporate based tech training
-American Flag
-GM is number 1
-Fuck you Iran, you are next
-Americans can come together to kill brown people
-I Killed Osama
I thought it was a great SOTU speech. Opened with praise for our troops requiring even the R’s to stand up (I chuckled when he did that). The R’s were forced to grudgingly applaud throughout the speech, even Cantor who looked like he was thinking, “Damn, I can’t think of a good rebuttal to this,” had to tap his fingers together a few times. Pointed out the foolishness of the “class warfare” nonsense, stood firm on clean energy, and ended up comparing Congress unfavorably to our heroic troops. Pure genius!
Cantor looked wonderfully uncomfortable. McConnell too – he looked outright constipated. And Daniels came across as such a crabby, petty little whiner I’m sure he’s close to contemplating switching sides and becoming an emo-prog.
Yes, I was just told to fuck off by the National Affairs reporter for Rolling Stone because I took exception to his whining that Obama failing to say more about the ACA = Obama “running away from Obamacare” in 2012. Apparently all pundits hate it when you critique their critiques of Obama…
I’m sure Mr. President will bring up ACA in the future. He’s got a million ways to play it. He could get the woman that wrote the LA times article to talk during the convention. The President’s doing fine. There are a bunch of things he could’ve brought up.
I said it on Twitter, but I really think that as long as PBO is in office – until 2016 – the Republicans should just type up their response to the SOTU, and hand it out to the press. Seriously, they don’t have anyone who is going to look good after he gets rolling in a speech. As a “compare and contrast” moment, it doesn’t work for the Republicans.
While a lot of people were screaming about the fracking, what I noticed was something that is going to upset the gas industry – he’s going to let them do it, but he’s going to regulate the hell out of it. They’ve been fighting tooth and nail to avoid saying what precisely is in their fracking fluid, and they’ve been pretty notorious about not cleaning up or having a plan. Both of which he pretty much said “ain’t going to happen from now on.” The same thing for the oil companies – yes, he’s going to open up more fields, but they’re going to come with regulations & requirements attached, and no more tax breaks on them.
Yep, the GOP should seriously consider either handing in a written rebuttal or outsourcing the job to those clever Taiwanese animation folks who spoof current events. Whomever they choose invariably suffers in comparison to the president, who is a terrific speaker.
I watched it on MSNBC, and the opened the coverage with a montage of past SOTU addresses, including Dubya’s. Once more, I was struck with gratitude and relief to have Mr. Obama replace the odious Bush. 2000-2008 still seems like a nightmare.

All in all a solid Republican SOTU.”
oh dear lurd.
emos gonna emo.
pardon the term, but…..
a whiny, snotty ass bitch will always be a whiny snotty ass bitch.
If that was all they got from it, then they got as much as the likes of Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich
Yawn! More emo BS!

I guess thats gonna be the typical emo-prog response
I guess saying “we’re not going to return back to the past” is running away………..
Just like righties, gotta bend their way into finding fault with the SOTU
Thank god there wasnt a televised OWS response, the whining would make me hate liberals

Besides, there is always the upcoming convention speech
The righties are shitting themselves now, wait until the convention speech….
Then they’ll be speaking of doom like Mitch Daniels, only its their own
Mitch Daniels talking all that doom shit, Romney looking a a greasy used salesman lying his ass off, and fucking Newton Leroy…….
Gotta love that tub of saying President Obama is still on a food stamp agenda, not a paycheck one……
So big upping GM, Masterlock, and investing more in all energy, teachers and the same as food stamps……….
Newton Leroy, I would say eat a bag of dicks, but you need to lose some weight in order to eat said bag of dick, so eat a low cal pouch of pig balls
