As I posted earlier, one of my absolute favorite bloggers and a real sweetheart of a guy even though he’s not black*, StrangeAppar8tus of Rumproast.com, had a serious health scare. He was fighting for his life, and while he is out of that particular woods, the news is still grim. He suffered a brain traumatic brain injury, and as a result, he is now blind. Because of this, he will be needing an abundant amount of aftercare.
Strange is one of the wittiest, most clever, snarkiest bloggers I have had the privilege of reading, but more importantly, he is also one of the most kindhearted, sweetest souls I’ve come across on these here webs.
His cauliflower rant is a classic and introduced the webs to the wonders that is StrangeAppar8us. Here is a snippet from it, and go read the whole thing for a cauliflower recipe:
Cauliflower is mostly a notational food – texture without essence, utility without passion, a strictly decorative rearrangement of dirt, water and sunlight. It is the “mercy fuck” of side-dishes – you only eat it because you feel so sorry for it.
Now, I love cauliflower, but reading that made me laugh through my tears because it’s so quintessentially Strange. The wonderful family of Rumproasters have set up a fundraiser for Strange that will be going on forever and a day. I know times are very tough all around, especially as we are approaching the buy-the-gifts-to-show-how-much-you-love-people season**, but please give to help out the bestest man in the bidness. Any amount is greatly appreciated, and remember, it’s ongoing so even if you can’t give now, bookmark the page for the future when you may have the opportunity to slip in a few quid.
All three of his cats have been placed in other homes, thanks in a large part to the wonderful community we lefty bloggers have in our readers. I’m so happy to read that the kitties found homes but so sad to read of your friend’s condition. I’m a Reiki healer and I will continue to send healing, positive strength and energy. Can you give me the general area where he lives? I do better if I can ‘aim’ the energy, as it were. Now I know to focus on his, head, brain and eyes.
