Apparently, President Obama is the Rodney Dangerfield of presidents.
Fresh off the heels of John Boehner’s unprecedented refusal to grant President Obama’s request for a joint session, here comes Joe Walsh to demonstrate how little respect President Obama gets:
Walsh, a tea party-backed freshman from McHenry, issued a statement today saying he’ll be in Illinois on the night of the speech to host a small-business forum. A Walsh aide said he expected details of the forum to be known Friday morning.
Talking about avoiding Obama’s address, Walsh said in his statement: “I don’t see the point of being a prop for another of the president’s speeches asking for more failed stimulus spending and more subsidies for his pet projects.”
He added: “The president needs to stop the speeches, get out of his office and away from all the White House academics and start talking to real people out there. They’re the ones who are going to create the jobs, not White House paper-pushers and bureaucrats.”
Joe Walsh is acting like a petulant child. Who does he think he is? If the President addresses Congress, and you are a member of Congress, you suck it up and you go. It’s really that simple. Could you imagine the outcry from the right if a Democrat up and decided he or she just didn’t feel like attending a Bush address?
It’s utterly ridiculous.
But hey — look on the bright side:
It’s one fewer person who might be inclined to yell “You lie!” à la Joe Wilson while the President is speaking.
Go ahead and add showing the President of the United States the respect he deserves to the list of Shit Joe Walsh Won’t Do — along with paying more than 100K in child support owed to his ex-wife.

I wish Deadbeat daddy Walsh would stop with the lame excuses and just say what he really feels. The shit he said in his statement is merely weak window dressing and is disingenuous at best. I think we know why Walsh holds the president in such high disdain and Walsh would be unhappy with whatever the president does.
Frankly, I’m glad he won’t be there. One less assy teabag to stink up the place.
Oh yeah, like the President hasn’t been going out there since his first day in office and speaking to people. I mean, what was he doing on that Midwest tour a few weeks ago–just driving around in a bus?
Rep. Walsh is both an imbecile and a blowhard. And the only reason he’s getting this attention is because the MSM is going to allow him to blow off his disrespectful airs and they will not bother give him a good thrashing with their questions.

I just left a message with Walsh’s office, reminding him that 100 years from now, PRESIDENT Obama will still be one of our great presidents (and I do believe that — for HCR alone if for no other reason) and Representative Walsh, if remembered at all (highly doubtful) will be known as a disrespectful twit. I didn’t use any swears! I’m very proud of myself.

Johnny, he’s probably going to lose his seat thanks to redistricting (http://washingtonexaminer.com/blogs/beltway-confidential/2011/05/illinoiss-democratic-redistricting-and-how-republicans-may-respon) — at the very least, he’ll have to face off against another GOPer in the primary and given that he’s had nothing but bad press, I think the dunghill of history will be embracing Mr. Walsh sooner rather than later. I’m not sure that district could be a pick-up for the Dems, but I’ll certainly do what I can to help out — I’m sure OFA will be sending people out to canvass, as they did for Wisconsin.
And for the EmoProgs who may be reading: redistricting is one of the big reasons why Intelligent Well-Informed Engaged Grown-Up Voters don’t throw hissy fits and encourage people to sit out the midterms (like Moronic-Former-GOPer-Turned-Dem-Late-in-Life Ed “I Scream, Therefore I am” Schultz) because they didn’t get their ponies in the first 100 days or whatever. You see, Tiresome Infants of Pseudo-Leftie Land, whichever party controls the state government generally gets to draw the Congressional districts in such a way as to favor their party. Which is why Scott Walker gets to redistrict in Wisconsin. My, THAT certainly is a victory for All True Progressives, isn’t it? You really SHOWED US OBOTS!!!!
