New Progressive Alliance: More Racist Than Progressive

I don’t have time for this crap.

After telling me to “get over being black” and challenging me to “debate like a human” last Friday, Anthony Noel decided to raise his racist freak flag and let it fly today.

The chirpstory is after the jump, but first a refresher on who these roaches are:

From The Peoples’ View:

For a while, the big babies at Firedoglake pretended to be Democrats and touted their purported attempts to simply hold the Democratic party to its platform. Now, they have finally dropped the rouse. Kudos to them for that, I guess. See, “some” FDLers with the apparent blessing of the FDL hierarchy have formed a new 527 group to blow smoke up the behind of FDL’s idea of running a primary challenge against President Obama.

Of course, the new e-fart, err, I mean effort, called the New Progressive Alliance (funny, given that what they are doing is neither particularly new nor progressive – and as for alliance, I suppose they are an alliance in the same way the Tea Party is an “alliance”), has really one purpose: be a spoiler in the 2012 elections. By any means necessary. Really. In their own manifesto, NPA goes full Lieberman and announces that they plan on participating in the 2012 Democratic primaries but most definitely not abide by its results. Declaring their intention to screw with democracy, they state:

As the first of its two-stage strategy for achieving this goal, the NPA is actively seeking a 2012 primary challenger who will commit to turning the electoral process, as we know it, on its head.

We seek a challenger who recognizes the rare opportunity 2012 provides for boldly leveraging Americans’ broad support of real Progressive policy and programs. Our challenger must pledge to oppose Mr. Obama throughout the primary season, and to play a key role in the second stage of our strategy, by changing the “traditional” script and throwing their support not to Mr. Obama, but to an as yet undetermined independent or third-party candidate who earns our endorsement.

~snip~

There’s a thought – since they at least agree with Lieberman on process, maybe they should add him to their list of candidates.

Speaking of their list of candidates, and being mindful of the need for comic relief, let’s have a look at their “top 10″ list of candidates:

1. Elizabeth Warren

2. Russ Feingold

3. Howard Dean

4. Richard Trumka

5. Alan Grayson

6. Cynthia McKinney

7. Al Franken

8. Paul Krugman

9. Dennis Kucinich

10. Jane Hamsher

Wait, what is that last one in the list? It’s none other than Friend of Fox Jane Hamsher. But I suppose it’s a smart move to give one of the slots to the “dear leader” at the site they got their start at/the site they are shilling for. And I take it that Ms. Hamsher provides this her full blessing at the least – or else she would have at least tried to dissociate herself from an effort launched from her site by naming her a primary challenger.

(read the rest of “FDLers Go Full Lieberman: Spoiler At Any Cost”)

All ratfucking roads lead to Jane Hamsher.

‘Nuff said.

This chirpstory is long, but well worth the read:

Pretty amazing display, innit?

These people aren’t Democrats, or liberals, or “progressives,” they are ratfuckers — and they’re not even hiding it anymore.

I’m sick of these people.

  1. Ok, let’s just keep on working harder for our country/president and let the idiots keep on showing their true colors.

    Obama/Biden 2012!

  2. I’m not seeing the Chirpstory here, ABL — when I tried to click through on Twitter I got a broken-link message.

  3. You should get over being female too, also.

These guys never cease to amaze me.
    I can’t be racist because
    1. I voted for Obama
    2. I have a black friend
    3. I don’t have privilege

  4. LOL, “honeybunch” and “sugar”. This fucker just fell off the neanderthal truck. Give em Hell, ABL.

  5. I also find it amusing that he would lecture you on how you don’t represent all black people (did you know that? I bet you didn’t!) and yet he seems perfectly comfortable being the “voice” of “New Progressives.” Him and his literal TENS of Twitter followers! Shit, I’m pretty sure people have Twitter feeds for their goldfish that probably draw more followers than that. (Not that I’m trying to be David Sirota and use Twitter followers as the gold standard for success, but if that’s all you’ve got as your public face, it’s pretty damn sad.)

    • First, he tells her that she doesn’t speak for all Black people, and then proceeds to tell the world exactly what the views are of a “sliver” of the Black community vs. the views of the broader Black community. Typical racist bullshit.

  6. The “sweets” and “sugar” shit was laid on thick too. I mean, he should have just said “sugar tits” and been done with it, punk asshole.

  7. “I’m sick of these people.”

No ABL, you’re sick of not having any good explanation for the Democratic Party’s compete sellout to the corporate interests which have purchased it, and now own BOTH parties. And you’re grasping at any chance to label those who point it out as racist (when they’re white) or as Uncle Toms (when they’re black, i.e. West and Smiley).

It’s really very simple. Barack Obama sold ALL of us on what he claimed to be, but has governed as what he claimed not to be. He is the 180-degree opposite of what he said he was. It shouldn’t matter one iota if a lying politician is black, white, green, or purple. If they’re lying, they must be called on it, and I’m calling Obama on it the same as I did with Bush (1 and 2), Clinton, and Reagan.

You don’t have to like it, but neither should the suggestion that you step outside your own ethnicity – a perfectly reasonable suggestion, based on the Twitter handle YOU CHOSE – lead to the completely transparent charge of racism you’ve leveled against me.

If you’d like to debate the issues surrounding the joint efforts of our sold-out political parties, who, working in concert with the Goldmans, Sachs, Banks of America, Lockheed Martins, Halliburtons, GEs and others, are looking to finish off the shredding of our social safety net, I’m down. IMHO, there’s way too much work to do to let a semantic argument get in the way.

    • You don’t have to like it, but neither should the suggestion that you step outside your own ethnicity – a perfectly reasonable suggestion, based on the Twitter handle YOU CHOSE – lead to the completely transparent charge of racism you’ve leveled against me.

LMAO. Dude, you slapped the big scarlet “R” on your own forehead, with your own words. ABL just led you to that place of self discovery, like she has done with so many others. And you didn’t even know it was happening, until it happened “get over being black” , you can find that sort of racist shit about anywhere in the right wing blogosphere.

And the Cherry on Top, you went full on misogynist assshole with the “honeybunch” and “sugar” quips. Maybe you should just stfu before you say more stupid and bigoted nonsense

      Liberal progressive? you ain’t that.

      • Captain Obvious

        Now let’s be fair:

You don’t have to be a conservative Republican to be sexist and bigoted, like Tony is. Yet, let’s just put it out there: he is a sexist, and is also a bigot. And no matter how he tries to upsell Cynthia McKinney, that’s just a fact.

Anyone who would join an organization like the New Progressive Alliance–”alliance” being shorthand for Greens and left-leaning Libertarians–under the leadership of this mope would have some explaining to do. Or not; why would anyone sane or rational want to be associated with such a sexist and bigoted asshole?

I don’t know any. Do you?

    • Captain Obvious

I’d like to remind the audience that this same person advocated sitting out the election last year.

      http://themalcontent.com/?p=758

No need to thank me. Just don’t buy into the act that Noel wants to “save” the country. It’s a self-flagellating racket.

      • That Guy With The Ponytail

And let’s all give these scumballs a nice round of applause for, well, let’s see: Wisconsin, the flipping of the House, Ohio, Michigan, and more. (I could go on, but I think those with IQ’s above ambient get the drift.)

Yes, Anthony, we’re sick of you. But just because you’re full of shit, and a whiny racist asshole to boot.

Go find a fire, and, well, you know…

        • Captain Obvious

Yes, it’s all quite convenient, isn’t it?

Take advantage of a political situation which they helped to create, blame the president, then advance to the next level of skulduggery. Why, if I didn’t know any better, I’d say the NPA was trying to elect Republicans on purpose, so as to create a larger electoral profile in 2016 for themselves.

It’s a shame, too, cause they’re–or rather, he’s–posing as the hero to the working class and poor. Please. They’re the ones in the gated communities sneering about how they should be as wealthy as the bankers they piss and moan about. They’re the people who say they believe in “diversity,” until that Black or woman [or both] gets promoted over them. Yeah, diversity–so long as they remain at the top of the food chain.

It’s as true in politics as it is in the workplace.

And no matter how the Anthony Noels try to hide behind catchphrases and people who might believe the same things they do; the fact remains that they associate with and organize a movement that is 90%+ White. They aren’t going to push this movement in the projects; they’ll be at Yale, Harvard, Princeton, MIT; appealing to the White collegiate students, the stuck-in-the-1960′s activists. It’s all in the playbook. That’s why it will fall on its ass.

And Tony’s comments aren’t helping disprove any of this.

      • Captain Obvious

Really, folks. Spread the word about what the leader of the NPA wanted for America last year. Spread it on Twitter, Facebook, wherever you can. People ought to know that this NPA is a scam, and that’s where it started a year ago. The simple point is: The NPA is a creation of certain out-of-mainstream “progressives” who actively enabled the Tea Party takeover of the House last Fall.

Then upon that takeover, they set about to start in with the idea of a Democrat Primary.

Matter of fact, I’m starting to think this whole NPA isn’t the committee they tried to sell it as on Craigslist. It’s a one-man operation in which he goes about throwing random names around as if there were a committee. Consider, he’s the one running the Twitter account. You don’t see anyone else on the “council” actively promoting NPA but Noel. He’s got accounts on almost every mainstream liberal megablog (if not under his name, under aliases).

Where’s the rest of this “committee?”

Why would this “committee” approve language that would suggest a Democrat Primary, then ask the candidate to commit to supporting an independent or minor-party challenger in the 2012 general? If it’s not an insurgent, one-man Green/Libertarian council, here, then why is one man only able to speak on its behalf?

        Ask the questions.

      • That Guy With The Ponytail

My previous reply was before I went and endured that amazingly badly written pile of crap.

Admirable as Aung Sun Suu Kyi is as an individual, how well has Burma fared since boycotting their elections? Things all nicey-nice over there these days?

Dude-boy’s not just an asshole, he’s a truly blithering idiot.

(Aside, to the moronic Anthony Noel: Trying to turn the US into some sort of South Asian Third World country serves what purpose, exactly?)

Put in terms so simple even Noel can approach understanding them, the object of the game is to win. When you hold power, you can get a good start on things, even if the totality of it is somewhat out of reach, as measured by those of us who have enough digits to be able to count votes. When you’re on the outside, you get nothing, and have the will of others imposed on you.

So, I repeat: How well are things working out for the Burmese opposition? And why, exactly, do you think that’s a good idea for the US?

        • Captain Obvious

I don’t know what answer you’d expect from a guy who has a steering committee with two people who donate to right-wing causes.

What’s that? You say he never told you about that part?

I mean, we knew that the NPA Steering Committee had its host of failed candidates, like Jill Stein, who ran on the Green-Rainbow ticket in 2002 and 2010, far behind Governors Romney and Patrick; or Cindy Sheehan, who tried and failed spectacularly in her House run against Nancy Pelosi.

Or there are his blogger friends, like Paul Barrow, David Swanson, and Richard Winger. If you don’t hang around FDL or Far Left blog circles, you wouldn’t know these people. I chalk Cornel West up to being a throw-in name that’s not actually in the group. After all, what would the NPA be without the token Black person to slap a name on?

Then there’s the curious case of Norman Bie and Alan Maki.

Norman Bie, who gave $2,000 to the campaign of Marco Rubio (per FEC reports), and Alan Maki, who gave $1,950 to an organization called “Safari Club International”; “the Leader in Protecting the Freedom to Hunt and Promoting Wildlife Conservation Worldwide”. And who did they donate to, primarily, in the last election cycle? Republicans. Dino Rossi, Richard Burr, Kelly Ayotte, and a host of others.

So, a “progressive” organization that fronts with liberal faces, but is backed with conservative money.

It’s almost as if this whole “primary” effort was something intentional; something to help the Right gain control of the government again, so that “progressives” can howl and complain for another decade in the minority.

That’s fucked up. Even for “progressives.”

    • Dear fuckhead, I just read the article you wrote leading up to the midterms, and I think you need to go back to hs civics class. Telling people not to vote, just so Obama has to veto every single piece of legislation that comes across his desk does nothing to promote or further any policy. Period. That was one of the worst posts I’ve ever read, and I am worse off for reading it.

Also, you’re in WAY over your head here. ABL is razor sharp, and you’re a melted crayon. So good luck with the veiled racism, we can all see your true colors. I’m sick of you people too, and I didn’t even have to step out of my ethnicity to know it.

    • I’m sick of these people.

No ABL, you’re sick of not having any good explanation for the Democratic Party’s compete sellout to the corporate interests which have purchased it, and now own BOTH parties. Fix’d.

    • Captain Obvious

Personally, I’d love Tony to explain why ABL has to step outside her ethnicity, while Tony doesn’t have to step outside of his…oh, right. Because he’s in control; doesn’t want to move the game off his playing field, nor play by rules that aren’t set up to his advantage. How sportsmanlike; “we’ll play on any field, but by my rules.”

    • Anthony Noel, the man who called me an Obot, because I think you inappropriately told ABL to get over being black, which is nothing more than something a hillbilly racist would write. Let’s put that aside for now, let’s talk about the Democratic party for a minute.
You think you all can run a primary candidate against the current President… hahahahahahahahahahahaha, that makes me laugh. Are you a paying member of my party? do you attend your local monthly meetings? Do you really think you have the power to strong arm real Democrats, those of us who have worked in the party at the local level probably long before you were born? Cause you sound new, like you fell off the turnip truck yesterday maybe… you have literally no say in our party. NONE, get that through your thick skull. None, no power, because you are just Nader voters redux. You are Shangri-la believing, left leaning TeaBags, with nothing more than douchbaggery to support your Democrats=Republicans meme. On the scrotometer that measures a pure unadulterated 20, on a 1-10 scale. We know how that propaganda worked out last time you dipshits pulled BS like this out of your asses, we have 8 years of cold hard data proving you to be WRONG. You will never accept that of course, which is what always leads folks like you to stoop to the level of BS like “get over being black”, since you haven’t gotten over being a sexist pig, i.e. sugar and honey comments to ABL, I think we can safely label you a sexist racist asshat. I would love for your kind to show up to just one meeting of any local Democratic Party official meeting, lots of people like me there, and we don’t tolerate POS like yourself.
I signed up to be a dem long ago, and I consider that to be my team. So I didn’t snap the ball to the quarterback (our current President) only to kick him in the balls and tackle him myself before he is able to make a god damned pass to score a touchdown. Doing that makes you not a member of the team. See sometimes the quarterback calls plays you don’t like, and every play doesn’t work, but when we work as a team, we are more likely to win than to lose. A tight team, doesn’t allow their quarterback to be sacked, but most particularly by those who claim to be on the same team. You violate all the rules of being on a team, you would suck to have as a team mate. You are the guy always whining because you aren’t the quarterback. Which makes you nothing more than a big baby. Quit your name calling bully behavior, or form your own team. Your team will be more like the CFL of course, where losers go to play, but do that and leave my party out of it, cause we are a team. Period. We support this President who is far and above any Republican, and I will support the next candidate in 2016, and there after.
Oh and for the record, African Americans have supported Democrats consistently, even in the face of the institutional racism that permeates our nation. I will always stand with my African American brothers and sisters before standing with the likes of you. ALWAYS.

    • How is asking someone to step outsides one’s ethnicity NOT racist? To what most would understand, that’s the equivalent to saying that black people are incapable of having a sophisticated analysis and the only viewpoint that matters, or that is capable of giving an informed view of this presidency is that of white, upper middle class liberals. How can someone say that’s NOT racist, unless you realize the bs you just said and are trying to cover it up?

So if by your logic that is not racist, then I have every right to say to you as a young black woman to get over being white, acknowledge your white privilege and how that has affected your feelings towards this president, not to mention the way you treated ABL.

In fact, what I’d be saying would be more accurate.

    • That can also be dissected as saying black people are not really human. Just saying.

  8. Captain Obvious

Check out this suck-up’s act on HuffPo: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/social/Anthony_Noel?action=comments

He’s such a desperate kiss-ass, that he lays it on thick in a comment section, with only 10 fans. What a douchebag.

    • Nice job sucking up. From the comment to E.Warren:

“At what point will you realize that you have been abandoned by your boss…”

This guy is so fucking egotistical, narcissistic and blinded by his undeserved privileged, he simply CANNOT see how he comes off as a complete asshole. Only a sociopath pens the above as a love note and expects a positive response.

    • Ten fans? I had more than that before I deleted my HuffPo account and I wasn’t even TRYING.

  9. All he needed was a chorus of the Rolling Stones’ “Brown Sugar” to cap the exchange.

  10. If it isn’t the big professional whiner himself..”Obama sold us out” sniff, sniff, suck, suck whine whine some more for those sucker dollars.

Fucking whining idiots who glue their fucking eyes shut and plug their fucking ears. But, they got their hands out for.. gimme some whine $$$$!!!! Right Now!

    http://whatthefuckhasobamadonesofar.com/

  11. Shhh…nobody tell Anthony that we live in a country founded on genocide, slavery, religious intolerance (Puritans were all about “freedom of religion for ME, but not for THEE!), xenophobia, misogyny, unfettered capitalism, imperialism, etc., etc. ALL of which was true before Obama became president, and NOT ONE GODDAMN PRESIDENT before him ever took sufficient steps to address or eliminate these problems, including FDR or LBJ. But of course, it’s only a problem for the NewKlanGressives when the black dude doesn’t fix everything all by himself — even though he clearly said “We won’t get there in one year, or even one term.” But Little Anthony is WHITE!!! How dare he have to WAIT for his Ponies of Utopian Gratification? It’s okay for blacks and Jews and Latinos and Asians and women and gay people to have to suffer and FUCKING DIE on the road to their rights, but white men want what they want when they want it, amirite, Anthony Eric Cantor Noel?

Congress apparently doesn’t exist in Anthony’s world, except for his “stand up to Blue Dogs” screed — meaning WHAT, exactly? — publicly caning Ben Nelson? Seriously, show me the strategy for getting people who represent conservative districts and have plenty of money outside the DSCC for running their campaigns on board with stuff their constituents hate. Or maybe Anthony and his Emos could actually haul their asses to red states and start organizing to build the kinds of grassroot movements to ELECT more progressive reps and senators to Congress from those districts? Nah, better to whine and toss out racist and sexist bullshit on Twitter and complain that the black dude doing all the work isn’t doing it right.

I just hope this Useless Prat slits his wrists lengthwise, not horizontally. And that he does it someplace where some other overworked black person won’t have to listen to him puling about “you’re not doing it right!”

Yes, yes, Anthony — sometimes politicians disappoint you. And guess what — when your mother told you that the kids made fun of you because they were secretly jealous of you? She was fucking lying, too. They made fun of you because you’re an insufferable fumbledick. Sorry, an insufferable RACIST and SEXIST fumbledick.

  12. Freedom Fighter

This comment has been deleted and I have moved your other comment to the trash where it belongs. You don’t refer to the President as a “jive turkey” on my blog.

First warning. Next time, you’re gone. -ABL

    • Captain Obvious

Now, this is all well and good, but it’s also a bunch of bullshit.

Trying to sound as if you’re writing from the South–nice try, bub.

I’ve never heard a Southerner refer to themselves as “crackers.” This is Northerner prose.

      Tony, cut it out.

    • in my head i keep replaying the scene in the royal tenenbaums where royal is arguing with henry sherman. wanna talk some jive?? I’ll talk some jive! i didn’t realize people still talked like that. and what the hell is a blue dog cracker ass and why on earth would you smell one?

p.s. i second the captain’s call of bullshit.

  13. Anthony Noel does not impress me.
    Neither does Hamsher.
Neither one has the sense to get out of a shower of rain.

  14. The cool kids are in the hall, plotting the principal’s downfall.

  15. indifferentwhitedude

Independents, mostly “white”, went overwhelmingly for Obama in 2008. They will do so again in 2012. These folks don’t run blogs or bark about Family Values or Cultural Marxism, and they don’t much care if some academic dilettantes or their aging students think they are “privileged.” Independents sit at the proverbial kitchen table and decide how to distribute their dwindling ‘wealth’ to keep the wolf from the door. Obama knows this, and he is still their guy. There is a lot of love out there for this president that is under radar.

Obama will be re-elected. It won’t close. Hide and watch.

  16. Now that I think about it, it might not have been Noel who was screeching about keeping the Blue Dogs in line — might’ve been one of the firebagging trolls over at the Reid Report (no relation, alas!) But they are all singing from the same tiresome idiotic hymnal these days.

  17. Is there a bio for Anthony Noel online? Who is this guy to think he has so much power?

    • That Guy With The Ponytail

      Middle initial = G.

      Interest in woodworking.

      Happy searching.

      • Thanks for the tip, That Guy With The Ponytail. And I’m off!

        • That Guy With The Ponytail

Well, it wasn’t exactly rocket surgery. (Rocket search-ery?) Searched his name, found his MyFDL page, with a pic, went back and looked on Google Image Search for the same pic.

This stuff isn’t that hard, you know.

          • Just saw this response. I did search and at the time all that came up for me was the garden designer. But, thank you for your kind words.

            What an f’d up day.

  18. Michael Cavlan RN

    Well kiddies
If you hate Anthony Noel than you are going to just LOVE me. You bunch of sold out, corporate hacks. Tony is a nice guy but like many white progressives, slightly clueless about issues like white privilege. He also does not know how to street fight.

I worked on the Cynthia McKinney/Rosa Clamente campaign. Cynthia, she is the modern day Shirley Chisolm. Standing up for the rights of Blacks and women. Abandoned by the Black misogynist leaders of their times. As a further aside, the McKinney campaign made history. The first time that two women of color were on the prez/Vp ticket in more than 20 states. But what the hell would you corporate Dem apologist hacks know about that?

But hell, lets have some real fun. I was an election observer in Ohio 2004.
You know, Ohio were the Republican Party deliberately targeted mainly Blacks and poor folks in voter disenfranchisment? In what can only be called a direct violation of the 1965 Voter Rights Act.

What did your man John Kerry and John (working man) Edwards do? NOTHING. They sat there with their $57 MiILLION that had ben set aside to fight voter fraud and did nothing. It was the DEMOCRATS who did nothing about the deliberate disenfrnachisment of black people and their right to vote and have those votes counted. Try watching Cynthia McKinney’s spectacular movie American Blackout. Or indeed read John Conyers book What Went Wrong In Ohio.

Then get back to me. I will not come back here. You come over to firedoglake

If you got the ovaries ABL and all your other corporate apologist hacks.

See you at the Lake. It is beautiful there.

  19. Michael Cavlan RN

    Ohhhh ABL

    Of course not

    grin

    Oh well. Back to firedoglake

where real, honest political debate and facts are used.

    • That Guy With The Ponytail

And your ideas do really seem to resonate well with the voting public, don’t they?

Let’s take a look at something direct from your Wikipedia page:

      Electoral history

      2006 election for U.S. Senate – Minnesota

      Amy Klobuchar (D), 58%
      Mark Kennedy (R), 38%
      Robert Fitzgerald (I), 3%
      Michael Cavlan (G), 0.5%

    • Ohh hai there yourself!

ABLC has more to say about the NPA, and will do so at our convenience. Some really good stuff in the hopper, is all I’ll say for now. Stay tuned!
