SCOFF

If Janet Rhodes is progressive, then Sarah Palin is a Rhodes scholar.

  1. sherifffruitfly

I’m always impressed by how they sound EXACTLY like teabaggers.

  2. it’s uncanny, innit?

“for the first time in my life, i will vote republican.”

    GTFO.

  3. Have at it, Janet.

Just keep your mouth shut when you discover that you’ll be paying more for Medicare, your prescription costs increase, your Social Security checks are tied to the stock market, and your kids’ and grand-kids’ standard of living is much lower than yours is now.

  4. What the fuck does she want people to call the White House and the DNC for?

These are the same people who accuse Obama of being a Republican. Her number one priority is to get Obama out of the White House. Sound familiar?

  5. Do we get free barf bags for reading this woman’s piece of caca?

  6. This supposed progressive should take her “democrat” weapon vote, stick it where the sun don’t shine, and kaboom!

    • “This supposed progressive should take her “democrat” weapon vote, stick it where the sun don’t shine, and kaboom!”

It would certainly be preferable if she used this “weapon” in a way that only harms herself — instead of herself and the rest of us.

  7. That Guy With The Ponytail

    BLARGH!

  8. And the long slow march to irrelevance continues over at FDL.

  9. Two bits says that Ms. Rhodes is simply a PUMA. An additional two bits says that if Hillary Clinton had had the exact same record as Obama (which is likely enough – though perhaps without the victory in health care and the demise of bin Laden) Ms. Rhodes would be calling her the greatest president in the history of the Republic, and that her re-election would compare to Reagan’s in ’84.

  10. Yes, Anthony Weiner is doing so much good now that he is out of the Congress. (That’s sarcasm!) She doesn’t want someone who governs; she wants someone who throws her kind of tantrum no matter the consequences. She has given up any progressive principles she once had and is only about getting her way.

  11. If you’re willing to look at a choice between Obama and pure evil, and choose evil just to spite Obama, then you’re no better than the evil. You may be worse.

    • It’s like dating the woman beater because your husband doesn’t bring you flowers every Friday. That’ll teach you…errr…. I mean him!
I mean, seriously, Bachmann? That tells you right there Rhodes doesnt give a FUCK about issues.
      Gay rights? Bachmann is against.
Government helping people? Bachmann’s against that.
Raising the debt ceiling so the government can pay it’s bills? Cross that off of Bachmann’s to do list.
Having BP pay for the damage caused by the oil spill? Bachmann thinks that’s “gangster”.

But she’ll vote for Bachmann to get revenge on Pres. Obama.
      That person is no progressive.

      PUMA!

  12. And, what, pray tell, caused her to make a stand against THIS Democratic president. What could it possibly be? I mean, many of us people of pigment have stood by the Democratic Party unceasingly through many distasteful political choices by Democratic presidents without even thinking of leaving the party. Now, two-plus years into Obama’s presidency after he inherited a disaster of a country from W. and his eight-year reign, she and other proggies are throwing in the towel?

Fuck her with a rusty pitchfork, and don’t let the door hit you in the ass as you leave, Janet.

  13. Just another example of the fact that the lunatics aren’t limited to the Tea Party.

  14. I love how she mentions that her “personal theme” in 2012 will be “payback”.

So….just because she’s pissed off at the President for not giving her a pony, she’s going to allow a GOP lunatic to get in the White House (and I presume, for the GOP to take over Congress) and run this country over the cliff? And she’s going to sit back and be smug about it?

That, my friends, is the definition of bats**t insane.

  15. Janet is not fooling me. She is not scaring me either. If she would rather vote for Bachmann than vote for President Obama then she is neither a liberal/progressive, nor a Democrat. JANET IS NOT A LIBERAL/PROGRESSIVE DEMOCRAT! All she is trying to do is stir up division in the Democratic party to help the teabag right wingers. My response to Janet is: Leave the Democratic party immediately! We don’t need your kind of poison! Any one who would rather vote for that insane teabagger, who thinks that the census people are out to get her, or that the founding fathers worked hard to end slavery, does not belong in the Democratic party! Personally, I would rather deal with blue dog Democrats instead of these insane firebaggers!

  16. Note her reference to Weiner having “balls” (hey, stop laughing) which then means President Obama doesn’t? Always back to that, isn’t with these sad, sad humans. I remember another PUMA over there one time suggesting that Hillary has more “balls” than President Barack Hussein Obama…you know America’s first melanin-enhanced President, and who didn’t owe his national reputation to his spouse, unlike a certain someone.

Ironically, Mz. Hamsher recorded the video that unleashed apparent Night Ranger fan, Harriet “Sister” Christian, where we got to see all this exposed so clearly 3 years ago:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5unWHvq9ysI

Eventually, this video disappeared from the FDL YouTube page even after having well over 1 million views (wonder why?). Too bad for them, Sister Christian spent a lot of time on Pox Newz where it was played frequently, so it’s available from others on YouTube. She evens says she would vote for McCain over a Barack/Hillary ticket. Neil Cavuto seems to be hiding his snickering the whole time.

They went into hibernation for a bit, but they’ve all clearly come back out. This is just the beginning. It’s not necessarily bad though either, since it’s nice to sort of filter out the posers from the DemocratIC Party, and much of the mushy middle voters will actually be impressed by President Obama if more of the “true progressives” continue their incessant and illogical complaining about him.

  17. I think the most ridiculous thing about this whole “it’ll be good if the crazy republicans win, it’ll make everyone realize how bad it is” ignores how apocalyptic a Bachman or even a Romney or any other crazy ass republican presidency will be for the already marginalized: people of color, immigrants, and especially poor women. Sure Ms. Middle Class Blogger will probably make it through, but the real life consequences for low-wage workers, poor women, immigrants, and anyone without a high speed connection and free time to make bullshit calls to their representatives would be pretty grave

    • Eleven-billionty times this. That’s always pissed me off the most about the progressives who grandly announce they are standing by their principles–they won’t be the ones most affected if the Republicans take back the WH and/or the Senate. They can afford to be principled and all that shit.

      • Someone I read said people like her are the ones who have betrayed their principles because if they truly believed in those principles they would advance them every chance they could – like the President is doing! Just imagine if the civil rights activities had pouted and said ,”No! We want the whole pie or nothing at all!” We’d still have ‘colored only’ signs on the drinking fountains and segregated schools.

    • Who the fuck is this tool, anyway (this Rhodes woman, I mean, not the person who wrote the comment above)? Shit, what the fuck makes her think anybody cares what some whiny, bitter asshole thinks?

Anyway, what I was writing to say had to do with this: “Sure Ms. Middle Class Blogger will probably make it through [a Bachmann, Perry, Romney, whichever one you want to choose] presidency…”

And yes, it seems reasonable to believe that; but I don’t think it’s true. I’m a fairly well off white guy. I’m straight, I’m protestant Christian. I’m pretty much at the top of the heap in this country (not by the sweat of my own brow, mind you, just because of the lucky accident of my birth). But I’m going to be just as fucked as any minority or any poor person if Bachmann or Perry take over. That’s what I don’t think the brilliant Ms. Rhodes understands: if the Republicans take over, we’re ALL fucked. She’s just as fucked as the uppity darkies she most likely sneers at when she feels like it’s safe to do it, she just doesn’t know it yet.

And, truth to tell, this is why I’m rooting for Bachmann to won the nomination: whichever Republican wins the nomination, if that Republican wons the election, it’s all over for this country; we’ve all had it. The only difference is that if Bachmann–or maybe Perry–wins, it’ll all be over quickly. If Romney wins, it’ll be another 10 or 15 long, agonizing years before it all falls apart. I’m praying that Obama wins, since I think he’s our Last Best Hope (seriously, just as much in 2012 as Lincoln was in 1861). If he wins and holds this country together, he’ll go down as having steered us safely through as vicious and dangerous a storm as Lincoln did. Too few people see that, but I think–assuming he wins and holds us together–years from now, that’ll be the way Americans look at him.

But again, I know that there’s a chance that the Republicans could win; if they do, I’d rather it be with Bachmann. If we’re going to go down the toilet, at least let’s make it a quick, clean, cataclysmic flush.

  18. If she and her husband think that voting against Obama “will break the back of the two party system” they don’t know a hell of a lot about the way this country elects people to office.

But why does that not surprise me?

  19. Five’ll getcha ten, she voted for Reagan, voted for Bush I, voted for Dole, voted for Bush II, voted for McCain. She’s a Republican operative, through and through. And that’s if she actually exists at all — she might be a puppet identity for one of Norquist’s goons.

  20. My favorite part of Janet’s tale is how she chronicles each of these Very Important Phone Calls she made, and the stunned reactions of those to whom she was talking.

Oh, yes, Janet, the people at the DNC broke the emergency glass and pushed the red button when you called, and Axelrod and Plouffe had to be stopped from committing seppuku.

    • My favorite part of the Very Important Phone calls was her demand for the President to resign immediately. WTF was she expecting to hear after that?! argh…

      • I bet the long silence of the pretend OFA worker was due to the person wondering if Rhodes was some kook. That’s usually how I deal with people who I’m not sure are playing with a full deck.

    • Oh, yes, Janet, the people at the DNC broke the emergency glass and pushed the red button when you called, and Axelrod and Plouffe had to be stopped from committing seppuku.

      But…but…. HER WEAPON!
They fear her WEAPON cuz she’s gonna use it!
      How about youuuuuuu?

    • The drama was as compelling as a tiny fart in a blizzard. The astounding reality is the comments on her diary are equally as staged. Filled with anger, empathy, hand-wringing and oh, the despair and tragedy of it all! It’s like a bunch of amateur marketing stooges trying to hone some marketable skills and failing miserably. One thing I’ve noticed is that nearly all of the “anti-Obama progressives” I once shared tweets with have disappeared from my stream. I see this as a good sign as it indicates an isolationist strategy that reduces their interaction and sphere of influence. Of course, it makes them captive of their manipulative “leadership” which is not a good thing. I only hope the duped don’t go broke before coming to their senses and breaking out of the scam. Ya, I’m a bleeding heart…

Meant as a response to Allan

    • ferreals.

what about $86M and 260K new donors do these leaky assgaskets not understand?

  21. Janet is a member of a Professional Womens Business Network and was raised in a conservative household. Apparently, she’s returned to her roots after some tinkering with the evil liberals. After all, how can you stay relevant among Professionals without joining the Tea Party and screaming “No more taxes!”. When demand is falling due to State employee terminations and private sector layoffs, the obvious solution is to take your Father and Mother’s advice and blame taxes while strengthening the professional network. She has “seen the light”…

I would like to think she’s a quitter and she’s adopted the “if you can’t sense any chance of beating them, you take the easy route and you join them”. Of course, Janet most likely never left her conservative roots. Her activism may have started in a rebellious phase, but more recently has morphed to converting people to the Conservative bowel movement. It’s readily apparent in her bio and her writings.

  22. This is the classic “As a lifelong Democrat…” move.

At least she’s clever enough to add the “-ic.”

  23. Poor fauxgressives…poor, poor fauxgressives. This woman wants to feel important, she wants to feel heard, she wants to feel as if her action makes a profound difference, whether positive or negative, she wants that feeling of import and attention, and this negro in the WH ignoring her must be sending her completely over the edge. Easy mark for the professional left.

Reminds me of a recent tweet I stumbled across:
@el_saborange Hey @AdamGreenOnline I get your emails. I send you cash – WHY wont u Primary Obama

No wonder 70-80% of liberals and Dems consistently support this POTUS (and btw, the more liberal the Dem, the more likely to support POTUS), which is why to the consternation of some folks in the national media, his ratings just refuse to tank. Because seriously, his “progressive” opposition is incredibly unattractive.

  24. Holy fuckballs. How does someone with such a low level of brain functionality even tie her damn shoes? I mean, really…we’re not just talking differences of opinion here. This is completely oblivious stupidity. And I keep wondering what they will be saying and doing if Bachmann were to – dear God, I hate even typing this – get elected President and start raking the country over the bigoted coals? Are they just going to sit around and smugly declare that this is what we get because Obama wasn’t The Most Progressive Person Ever? Are they not going to try to fight against the horrific policies a Bachmann or Perry administration would try to enact? And if they *do* fight against them, then what would have been the motherfucking point of helping them get elected??

ARRRGGH. I can’t even. Fuck this idiot.

    • And I keep wondering what they will be saying and doing if Bachmann were to – dear God, I hate even typing this – get elected President and start raking the country over the bigoted coals?

Easy. That will be Obama’s fault too, for making them vote against him because he took the public option off the table and did not close Gitmo.

  25. anyone who says they would vote for Bachmann is my enemy.

    period.

I will not even pretend that I can ‘ see the point’.

there is no point to casting a vote, for President of the United States, for a right-wing hate monger who also happens to be a fucking idiot.

  26. I would totally vote for Bachmann in a primary, if I were an eligible indy voter or a Democrat in a state where that made me eligible to vote in the GOP primary — but I’d do it because she’s more beatable that Romney or Perry (or Paul, for that matter).

    • I wish I had your convictions that Bachmann couldn’t be elected president–I really do. However, I just don’t have that kind of faith in the American people any more (if I ever did).

      • That Guy With The Ponytail

Well, we both know that even here in normally sane MN people will vote for (have voted for!) that lunatic.

Damned humans. Give them a chance and they’ll screw up every time.

  27. That Guy With The Ponytail

Here’s a nice link just to remind everyone what it is we’re up against on our own side. This guy nails it:

  28. Damn. I shouldn’t have read this. It made me unbelievably angry just to see something that stupid online.
