Apparently, some fuckwit conducted a “study” that demonstrated that there are racial differences in the physical attractiveness of women. Mainly, that black women are neither “all that” or “a bag of chips.”

There are marked race differences in physical attractiveness among women, but not among men. Why?
Add Health measures the physical attractiveness of its respondents both objectively and subjectively. At the end of each interview, the interviewer rates the physical attractiveness of the respondent objectively on the following five-point scale: 1 = very unattractive, 2 = unattractive, 3 = about average, 4 = attractive, 5 = very attractive. The physical attractiveness of each Add Health respondent is measured three times by three different interviewers over seven years.
From these three scores, I can compute the latent “physical attractiveness factor” by a statistical procedure called factor analysis. Factor analysis has the added advantage of eliminating all random measurement errors that are inherent in any scientific measurement. The latent physical attractiveness factor has a mean of 0 and a standard deviation of 1.
Recall that women on average are more physically attractive than men. So women of all races are on average more physically attractive than the “average” Add Health respondent, except for black women. As the following graph shows, black women are statistically no different from the “average” Add Health respondent, and far less attractive than white, Asian, and Native American women.

What accounts for the markedly lower average level of physical attractiveness among black women? Black women are on average much heavier than nonblack women. The mean body-mass index (BMI) at Wave III is 28.5 among black women and 26.1 among nonblack women. (Black and nonblack men do not differ in BMI: 27.0 vs. 26.9.) However, this is not the reason black women are less physically attractive than nonblack women. Black women have lower average level of physical attractiveness net of BMI. Nor can the race difference in intelligence (and the positive association between intelligence and physical attractiveness) account for the race difference in physical attractiveness among women. Black women are still less physically attractive than nonblack women net of BMI and intelligence. Net of intelligence, black men are significantly more physically attractive than nonblack men.
What kind of dumbassery is this? Honestly. Who the hell comes up with this shit? There is no “objective” standard of beauty. Beauty is in the eye of the motherfucking beholder.

Honestly, my first thought on reading the article was that it’d been written by a woman whose boyfriend left her for a black woman. It’s THAT petty, stupid and illogical. And that doesn’t even touch on the racist/hateful part of it.
That or he’s another one whose ass got rebuffed by a Sista, and like so many others, it damaged his sense of superiority.

That was my view after realizing it’d been written by a man. But normally that level of bitchiness is solely the field of women. It’s just really a pathetic piece of … whatever it is. I’m not even sure it’s actual “research”, I’ve seen people take it down, hard, based on the … oh, I don’t know, I’m not a research-y person. Based on the tables he included, which are apparently suspect in and of themselves, even if they didn’t contain such fuck-witted data.
I’m starting to hate people in general. I think I’m going to take my husband and my son, whom I both really really like, and choose a few other people and go live on an island and fling poop at anyone who comes near my island. Of course this is based on the fact that 1)this “study” pissed me off and 2)one of my friends really hurt by feelings by acting like a total twat the other day and hasn’t bothered to get in touch with me at all since then so maybe I’m just a little touchy right now.

Sounds like a cancer ward), or who the interviewers are… ugh, remind me never to put any pill a psychiatrist gives me anywhere but in the trash.
This “study” is ironic being published when the biggest story in the country is of an African maid being raped by the IMF European chief in his Manhattan hotel.
This is the same guy who approvingly said: “Imagine that, on September 11, 2001, when the Twin Towers came down, the President of the United States was not George W. Bush, but Ann Coulter. But the bottom line is that he’s a psychologist – it’s not even really science.
There’s a big difference between the general field of psychology and evolutionary psychology. I wouldn’t knock both because the latter of the two is so full of fuckery.
My psychologist hate is from experience. The field is chock full of queer hate and accommodationism for that hate. Their members even go on national tv and claim that a gay kid is the worst thing that could happen to a parent and they don’t get censured for that bullshit. I have zero respect for that profession.

Thank you for posting this! It’s nice to know that the Psychology community doesn’t take his work seriously and that Psychology Today has removed the article on-line.
This is not science. This is some charlatan’s attempt to draw attention to himself by making outrageous claims. Recall that a real scientific study has a hypothesis, a detailed methodology, a description of how the results were tabulated, and a conclusion with a frank review of the weaknesses in the study. It’s an embarrassment to Psychology Today and the London School of Economics that they give this guy a platform to commit scientific fraud.
I think what I love most about this study is the conclusive data it provides that: Racism! Not just for white folks!

I polled myself three times on whether I thought Satoshi Kanazawa looked like a complete fuckwad or only a partial fuckwad. To make sure this poll was stringently and objectively subjective I waited up to 7 minutes between polling times. The results were unanimous that he looked like a total (and even complete) fuckwad every time. Thus I will prepare some graphs to this effect and publish my scientific survey. The end.
I wish to god that he had included a picture of what I look like in the morning in this “study.” It would have proved CONCLUSIVELY that white women are the ugliest people alive and that we should all be burned at the stake.
I am Latina with a white-looking child but who is looked at as if he wore a pervert at the mall while walking beside his daughter? Her father who is a bit darker than I am and a shit load more dark than our child! Of course “attractiveness” is in the eye of the beholder. But if you rate many many people by many many observers over many years, you begin to get a consensus of what “attractiveness” means to the population as a whole. All the study showed was that there is a consensus of what is attractive; that that consensus has distinct racial differences; and that no one really knows why, except possibly for the relatively high testosterone level in blacks which may tend to make black men and women both look more “manish.” There you go. No racism involved. Just a snapshot of how the world works.
Yeah, I did psychology and can confirm that it’s a load of cack, on the whole. And definitely not science, though they’d love it to be. Desperate for it to be, in fact. Oddly, perhaps spookily, most people who do psychology are women. Qualitative research basically involves asking a few people (you can get away with ONE if you adopt a startling ‘methodology’ called IPA) some questions- and then totting up the answers. It doesn’t tell you much except ‘these few people think this, or that’. But you can do that simply by going to the pub for an hour or two and reporting your results, before you fall over.
But of course, as ABL says, it’s nonsense because attraction is culturally conditioned, so it’s a perception, so it can’t be objective. The plain truth is that black females are the most beautiful beings on this once fair planet; and many non-black and therefore not-so-beautiful people can’t hack that so they make up studies trying to keep the truth from walking through the door and biting them where it hurts most.
I don’t necessarily believe that black women are ugly. Though I have seen some ugly black women in my time much like I have seen ugly women from all other races.
What makes many black women really ugly is her nasty attitude. There are some very physically attractive black women but with a nasty attitude stink her up really good.
