We here at ABLC will have more to say about that soon. Never you worry. Show us a scab and we’ll pick at it. Because we’re obsessive that way.
But it’s late and we need to get some rest for the shitstorm that’s coming down Monday, so we’ll leave you with this morsel:
Right in the middle of attacking some people on Twitter because they talked back to a reporter from ThinkProgress named Zaid Jilani, who attacked them earlier in the day using really offensive, racially charged language, Joan Walsh took a break from the race war to have the following exchange with one of her followers:
Yes, Joan, it’s all about you.
Why does she keep getting into these things? Wasn’t she involved in another incident a couple weeks ago? Sheeeeit!
If I was a twitter-person I might well suggest that if it happened the week Joan was born she’s too young to have perspective on it.
I’m not, and I know there are a lot of people here younger than me, so maybe I’ll just say Joan is a self-centered fool.

Shoq got into it w/her this past week over something. I don’t follow twitter wars as I don’t have the time to do that. Since the back surgery I can only sit a limited time and following idiots that bitch back and forth at each other is not on my priority list..but I do love this post! ;)

This shit is revoilutionary. As a black woman working within the Democratic Party my entire life, benevolent viruses like Glen Greenwald and Joan Walsh are a part of life. SO MANY OF people of color want to yell to the rooftops about the way they marginalize us, dictate to us how we should feel and demean any of our objections to this type of treatment as “whiny” and as “devisive.”

Yes, Joan is often like that. She was criminally clueless at Salon and now that she no longer is the managing editor, she’s fond of passing off responsibility for it going to shit to someone else. She’s the one who hired GG and let the place be run over with lunatic Greenbecks, and when those same Greenbecks start to hijack her current article comments on Salon, she throws a hissy. Too bad. The chickens come back to roost. Joan is fond of burying her head in the sand.
I made screencaps of a Facebook message thread where Joan was included and where she got all upset and angry because we wrote our honest opinion of GG and his loons. She seemed to think that was an offront to her since, you know, she’s special and therefore no one else can share opinions that upset her. Trust me, everyone had a good laugh at her expense that day.
The thing is she didn’t used to be like this, but being in a media bubble turns people strange. I don’t understand it, especially the economics of it since there aren’t enough watching eyes to justify its existence. Joan fell into the same trap as a few other bloggers who’ve gotten regular gigs on the low-rated cable political-gossip shows. She started to think everyone was concerened about what she thought of everything.
Joan, we don’t care. Seriously. We don’t care. Most of us turn all of you off when we see you on TV. We have our own opnions and we know where we can go to share them with others and we don’t need you to act as hall monitor or conduit. Just thought you’d like to know.

Wow, I just looked through the ChirpStory that Shadow’s Mom (I think) put together. Joan Walsh just busted in there with the Tim Wise link and started pouring kerosene all over everything. Just like the whole thing was started by that Zaid Jilani taking exception to the title of asiangrrl’s post without, for a second, educating himself on the history behind it.

I had her tweets in my chirpstory and added them back, I don’t know what happened that made them go away. I can only say that I am sorry for whatever stupid-headed thing I did or said that caused offense. If someone can tell me what I did, and how to make amends, I will do whatever it takes.
I try to be one of the ‘good’ folks. So, ABL, if you see this I’m sorry.
ABL’s tweets were definitely in the version I read so there must have been some kind of technical glitch that made them disappear.
OK,then. Having looked at ABL’s ‘following’ list I can see myself there, but if I try to DM, Twitter says I cannot DM someone who is not following me.
So, not sure what is up with my Twitter setup, but will just wait it out and see if it self-corrects. And this appears to have been the correct decision since Twitter is working for me again.

Whenever Joan is on TV now, I tend to turn the channel and that started after Obama gave his speech regarding the Ryan plan when she appeared on (I think it was the Ed show or Hardball) and she was asked what she thought. But if you look closely at her body language and facial expressions it spoke something entirely different. She tried to keep a straight face by saying she liked it blah…blah…blah but if you looked beyond that, you could see how uncomfortable she was in saying anything positive about Obama and the speech itself.
But what I don’t like about her is that when she get’s caught in her web of lies and deceit then she interjects some historical African-Americans in the mix as if to say “see I like the blacks.” It’s pure bullshit.
She reminded me of a incident that happen here in Brooklyn not too long ago in Park Slope where an African-American wanted to put a hip-hop club on Flatbush Ave not to far from the Brooklyn Nets new arena and this women protested not at the fact that the building was going to be used as a music space but she protested the fact that it was going to be a hip-hop club. She said it should be more Indie which was code words for “I don’t want the blacks or that kind of music in my neighborhood.”
Now I’ve been to many Indie music clubs and bars here in NYC and across America and have seen many fights and acts of lewdness in those places but you never see any of that being reported.
But what made me jump into the mix was when she said that Newt’s comments sounded a “lil racist” when his comments where in fact racist as hell.
Maybe one day the “privileged” Joan Walsh and her ilk will wake-up one day and realize that they are the ones who are shrinking the progressive base instead of actaully being inclusive.
