Stuff You Need: A Bra that Converts into Two Gas Masks

Who Said Science Can’t Be Sexxxy?!

Or what about a bra that converts into breakfast?!

Dr. Elena Bodnar of the Trauma Risk Management Research Center invented something that could save your life!  (But not from velociraptor attacks.)  It’s a bra that can be converted into a gas mask.

Nope, not kidding:

At the 2009 Ig Nobel Prize ceremony, Public Health Prize winner Dr. Elena Bodnar demonstrates her invention – a brassiere that, in an emergency, can be quickly converted into a pair of protective face masks, one for the brassiere wearer and one to be given to some needy bystander. She is assisted by Nobel laureates Wolfgang Ketterle, Orhan Pamuk, and Paul Krugman.

Watch the video.  Dr. Bodnar is hilarious, and looks like a German Meryl Streep.  She gets extra points for slapping a bra on Paul Krugman’s face:

So go ahead and add this to the list of weird lady products that you really should buy, along with the magic cone, the camel toe camouflage, and condoms with teeth.

I wonder which is more preferable: wearing a bra on your face to protect you from gas, or wearing a fart neutralizer in your unnerwears.  I guess the bra, since it protects you from more than just stinky bums.  Like airborne anthrax.  or airborne Bieber fever.  Then again, imagine how glorious it would be to eat fourteen burritos and not have to furtively glance around before releasing the gassy demons.  Don’t tell me you’ve never farted and then basked in it because you can’t believe that such an odor most foul came from your hiney.

So what’s the verdict?

Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.

  1. The gas-mask element of this isn’t visually clear to me.

What is clear is that someone needs to stop fooling around with the raw bacon when there are hungry breakfast customers waiting.
