A Funny Thing About that KKK Letter

Methinks people thought it was for real.  Like, “for real” for real.

Last week, I posted about the KKK proclaiming its disapproval of the Westboro Baptist Church shenannies.  The post featured a “letter” to the Westboro Church from the Ku Klux Klan, LLC.

First, “LLC”?  Really?  I guess when your business model at best requires being a douchebag, and at worst involves assault, murder, and pyromania, it’s probably best to limit your members’ liability for the organization’s asshattery — “I mean, yeah, I was AT the cross burning, but it was a company retreat.  So, you know… ain’t my fault!”

Second, I just wanted to let y’all know that the letter is not real!

The reason I emphasize this is because the post was retweeted a handful of times, and I was pretty stoked about it.  I blog because I like to write and I like to be ridiculous to the point that I make myself laugh.  I also like to be profane and loud-mouthed. (Have you noticed?)  But I also love the idea that people read my writing and enjoy it.  I get excited to read people’s comments and to see that my posts are being shared on the interwebz.

So, after basking in the glory of having my post retweeted ten whole times, I decided to do a little digging.  I don’t get retweeted often, after all.  I had the urge to go Nancy Drew all over everybody’s asses.

When I checked out the profiles of the retweeters, I noticed that most of them were right-wingers.  The kind that really aren’t reading my librul socialist ramblings on a regular basis.  The kind that seem to believe that all the spitting and racist name-calling that went down the weekend the healthcare reform bill passed was just a big fat big hoax even though it has conclusively been proven that it was not a hoax.

One of my dear retweeters recently tweeted:

OK—As some of you are aware, I recently wrote a diary titled, “Dissent is the Highest Form of Patriotism”. In this diary, I discussed how Andrew Breitbart proved that the allegations from the DNC and the MSM that the Tea Party is fueled by racism and violence is one gigantic hoax. Furthermore, I also demonstrated how the left often resorts to acts of civil disobedience, threats, name-calling, and sometimes out-right violence, when they protest or try to suppress dissent. Some examples of this behavior are threatening voters with nightsticks, throwing food at people, posting death threats to Eric Cantor and shooting up his office, calling people “Raaaaaacists!!”, “hooligans”, “The Mob”, “Nazis” and writing in the WaPo that “I want to knock every racist and homophobic tooth out of their Cro-Magnon heads.”

For those not familiar with the “Nuh uh, we didn’t do nothin’” lie which has been spread by Andrew Breitbart,  click here.  And for those who want to go further down the liberal rabbit hole, check Media Matters’ coverage here and follow the links.  Breitbart’s fuckery is well-documented.

Essentially, Breitbart–who wasn’t even there when the racist shenannies went down–said: “It didn’t happen. This is 2010. Even a racist is media-savvy enough not to yell the N-word.”

Rrrrrright.  Because when I think about the average racist, I think “I bet that son-of-a-gun is Facebooking his tweets while checking to see if there are any other racists on LinkedIn, adding bling to his Myspace page while updating his RSS feed and uploading videos onto YouTube.”

It’s not like these racists would ever show their true colors if they knew cameras were watching!  Right?

Say cheese!

Make sure you get my supersweet Texas flag jacket in the shot!

So, you can imagine my befuddlement.  Why were these people retweeting my posts?

Well, the other day, I was having a conversation with a friend of mine who told me she had read my post.  “Is it real!?” she asked.  Then, it hit me like a brick straight to my face area:   I bet those retweeters thought it was a real letter from the KKK telling the Westboro Baptist Church to get their shit together!

If so… HA!  If not… well… you just spent a minute of your life reading this post and you’re never going to get it back.  ::shrug::

In any event, just to clarify: I WROTE THE LETTER.  IT’S FAKE.

Hey now, don’t feel bad if you thought it was real.  With all the rampant fuckery going on right now, I would have believed it was real too.  The only reason I know it isn’t real is because I wrote it!

So ‘fess up:

Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.
