Last week, in his animatronic Republican response to President Obama’s address to Congress, Bobby Jindal criticized Obama for the $140 million appropriation for volcano monitoring, stating “Instead of monitoring volcanoes, what Congress should be monitoring is the eruption of spending in Washington.”
When reached for comment, one Mt. St Helens eruption survivor spat ashes and exclaimed, “What a waste of taxpayer dollars!”
In totally unrelated news, reports that Mount Redoubt volcano in Alaska (home to wolf huntress, Sarah Palin), is about to blow make us ambivalent.
We could just spend the money on Stop, Drop and Roll assemblies in schools.
